In the mind anyway.

Re: Order of study: moeller, finger technique, push-pull

Great attitude. IMO you have a healthy positive approach.

You've hit upon one of the trigger topics around these parts. It's all good. Everyone has passionate opinions about certain things....

Re: Just Came From Terrible Audition - I sucked!

Just know that "sucking" isn't permanent. You thought you sucked, that's the most important opinion here. You learn the most from your errors. You admitted it to yourself too. There's not much else...

Re: At which point do polyrhythms stop sounding cool and start sounding academic?

Nice perspective. Anti-social (when it gets too technical). I can see that to a degree. Could be called ego-centric too maybe.

Massaging the ego, pretty sober overview of what's actually happening...

Re: Best shuffles?

Just a pick nit....the 4th video down in the OP (Ramble at the Ryman) isn't a shuffle.

ZZ Top's "La Grange" is a great sounding Texas style shuffle.

Duke Robillard's drummer Mark Teixeira plays...

Re: Classic kits that sound... horrible.

Just goes to show that the greatest kits can sound very pukey in the wrong hands.

Hmm, what would sound worse, a great kit tuned bad or a crappy identical kit tuned identically bad?

Neither,...

Re: At which point do polyrhythms stop sounding cool and start sounding academic?

My answer to the thread question is that it's an individual line and really can't be quantified easily.

On a very related note, I've just recently been exposed to a poly-metronome. You know the...

Re: Order of study: moeller, finger technique, push-pull

Lack of technique really held me back early on. I knew what I wanted to play, but what I did....didn't translate. Only after I had 2 teachers that happily were concerned with how to play, one got my...

Re: Die cast hoops

The good thing is you can take them and use them on your next set. So if you like them, bite that bullet and get what you want and you have them the rest of your life.

Re: Worst Badge in the Business

The script badges are IMO the pinnacle of badge design.

Rogers. Sonor. Guru.

Worst badge in the business? We are so extremely lucky in this world to have drumsets at all. Debating badges is...

Re: Damage control: take care of your stuff

With my 10" splash cymbal, there are a few song endings where I literally punish it. I'm actually trying to break it. Have been since 2006 actually. The darn thing won't crack. It's pretty badly bent...

Doing what comes naturally

I have a 12.5 YO stepson. 7th grade. He's getting some pretty good attention for his drum playing. He plays in the regular middle school band, they invited him to play jazz band, (an honor) and he...

There was a tractor trailer full of Mapex drums that was just stolen...right in your area too!

Looks like you lost them :( :)

Re: Well this is humbling: Hit Like A Girl, Bonham edition

That whole song was an effort of joy for...

I see what you did there, I think.

Your avi disturbs me. I can't not look at it either.
