I had kind of a clunky 22" bd, and went with a 20" b/c I wanted something smaller to move around. I also like having my toms flat and low, so a 20 helps with that too.

I've played a 20x16" Gretsch...

I bought a couple of Lug-Locks but I did not like them.They were sort of a hassle to put on.

So I bought locking washers from a hardware store and those are working fine.

I had this same problem a couple years ago. I was debating buying a Tama Warlord or a stave snare. I went with a Stave Walnut Snare from TP drums. I love the drum because it has a large tuning range...

Pearl would be my choice. I love Tama, DW, Yamaha, Gretsch, Sonor, and Ludwig; however, Pearl's Masterworks just blows me away.
