Re: Can you feel this?

Thanks Joe. It does have a random intuitive sort of feel as I do it but you'll notice a few recurring themes there, and it's not the first time I've played them. Seems to be based on something but I...

Can you feel this?

This is just a video of me noodling... I have been doing this type of style for a little while and I don't really know what drummer I might be channelling or what style it is in. To me it sort of...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

This was a trade, not a purchase - ever since I saw Stanton Moore I had my eye on the trash crashes but they're quite exxy. Well I found someone on the internet who was letting go of one and I traded...

Re: May buy a new drum today!?

The newer ones sound better FYI.

I have owned 2 older ones and one from about 2008 (with the silver badge) and I felt the new (birch) ones were much nicer.

Re: DW performance or Tama SC birch bubinga

I'd go the tama for sure. Just prefer the sound really, they are excellent.

Re: How does Gavin do this?

Drum solo's are so much nicer when the band gives the drummer some nice accents and chords to work with. Gavin didn't do much to keep the audience with him, just kind of went from one angular chop to...

Re: 13 inch snare for hard rock

I'm extremely happy with my nomad. I've never owned another 13 metal snare prior to this so I might feel that way about any of them.

Other standout choices that I've tried:

Tama starphonic 13x7...

Re: LM402 Lust

It's nice to have an inspiring snare but please buy it because of its sound, look, features, and because you like it.

Re: DW, the Scientology of drum companies?

I eat mcdonalds for the preservatives. I don't want to start looking old just yet.

Re: Why bother with books?

The world is full of books, drum instructional videos, and now the internet is full of everyone trying to promote themselves in the form of free "drum lessons" online.

I have always been a...

Re: "Oh no - Not another new bearing edge!"

Good to finally "meet" you Andy, you're a great presenter and a likeable guy. I wouldn't want my drums to ring that long personally but I know that is how some people perceive quality.

Still...

Dear Sir,

Good day and compliments. This letter will definitely come to you as a huge surprise, but I implore you to take the time to go through it carefully as the decision you make will go off a...

Re: Worth rims mounting?

Thanks!

I don't love the giant beat but the rest of the kit is nice. Might sell that giant beat.

Re: Worth rims mounting?

This is a mismatched kit (with the sleishman) but I'm using the sonor toms. I think I've reignited the flame.

I wish I had a 16" for it :(

Re: Trying out the Dunnett R4-L strainer

They can get stuck, perhaps that's been addressed in the years since I tried them. I have a trick gs007 that needs a home.

Re: DW, the Scientology of drum companies?

Thanks for the giggle, I almost spat my tea all over the keyboard.

It's ironic that DW is the only forum that doesn't like Drum workshop.

Is that an irony? I'm not sure, I'm just a dumb drummer...

Re: Black Beauty Head Selection?

Definitely a coated ambassador for me. The stock 'medium' ludwig that comes with it is nice too.

Re: Worth rims mounting?

Thanks for talking me out of. I setup the kit today and it sounds great the way it is. I actually kinda hate the floppiness of the rims mounts I've encountered anyway.

Re: Guru snare competition results!

I saw Bill Ray's entry, admittedly I didn't see the others but whoever beat him must be good.

Congrats to everyone.

Re: Worth rims mounting?

Hmm okay. Well then if I did it it's only for aesthetic purposes and to give my baby a new leash on life.

1 Australian dollar is only buying 80 us cents and RIMS are pretty expensive for what they...

Worth rims mounting?

I am trying to decide if it's worth me rims mounting my 15 year old sonor s-class. I know it's not the most pressing issue in the world right now but it's quite expensive all said and done.

This...
