Re: I need your advice please

The one gripe I have about my Starclassic Maple 14x12 is the legs are short and I'm 6'2", all torso. If the brackets were mounted 2" lower it would be perfect. I won't be at the other house were that...

Re: Premier Royal Ace Info Needed.

I don't know where to buy a replacement set, but I do recall seeing something on a vintage drum forum where a guy bought a long-enough snare wire and soldered up a working set.

Re: Fixing out of round hoop ???

Sure will. It's best to build a jig or a form on each end that matches the inner curvature of the shell. Otherwise you may be concentrating too much pressure on a small area and end up with crease.

Re: Fixing out of round hoop ???

If you have a ratchet bar clamp you can take the end off, turn it around, and now it pulls stuff apart instead of keeping it together. It's a nice way to get small, even increments.

Re: Should I?

I would do it in a heart beat. You have another set of oak drums so you won't miss that flavor. I have had 2 flawless Starclassic kits. The maple in my avatar is still my baby.

Re: To drill or not to drill?

I would drill the crap out of it. If you are going to keep it and gig drill it.

Re: Mapex Saturn V on offer I'm really tempted. Saturn owners assemble!

At almost half the price of some of the FF kits I say go for it.

Re: Gretsch Wrap Question

Possible re-wrap? It's not old/vintage given the butt plate and gaskets.

Re: Gretsch Wrap Question

Looks like black onyx to me, but I don't think that was a Gretsch option aside from the semi-recent Catalina Club. I remember the onyx/agate wraps to be a Rogers/Slingerland thing.

Re: Namm 2019 rumors

That's exactly what I thought. The thinner crescent looks great imo, but the font looks like it should be on a box of laser tag guns from the 80s

Is this it?

LiveBPM is a $3 app. No trigger, checks, or paper clips, and it can find a 1/4 note whether you're playing the snare or not.

Re: Best budget recording drums

A Yamaha Stage Custom c/w hardware is approx £8-900 and a good (A,K, or similar) cymbal pack will run £6-700. For recording you would still want to change the stock heads and you are already over...
