Re: Next Stage Custom?

Yeah, go ahead and upgrade yourself, buy your own hoops, the STAGE CUSTOM hoops do come off the drum (you'll need a 14-6 hoop for the FT). All that stuff can be user upgraded, the lugs are fine.

Re: Cymbal Brands

All the major companies have multiple series, usually raked in price, then flavor. If you could post the a sound/brand/series, it'd be easier for us to throw close matches from the other makers back...

Re: SKFBlog Audio - Roy Burns Drum Clinic - Circa 1974

Hah, that's funny, I was just going thru old cassetts yesterday.

Great find, Roy is/was a monster.

Do you remember what brand of drums he was playing at the clinic?

Re: Flaw in Green Glass Glitter finish

Another way to look at it- Its a 'one of a kind drum', a one off, something they may reward you with monetarily to own (discount).

A rarity, slipped by DW QC, a mis struck coin oddball, something...

Re: 2 up with a 12" tom as the smallest

A much better example of TW tuning, there's no third between the 12 and 13 happening here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNMYpP4iis0

Re: Flaw in Green Glass Glitter finish

For 40% off, it wouldn't bug me, the green colour in general would tho.

Re: Drinking beer at a gig

Better than sounding drunk when you play awesome.

Better than drinking and playing to someone else's time.

Wow Andy, 'our' hearts skipped a beat there.

Blessed be.

Re: Have you ever have someone in the audience tells you your playing a song wrong?

There's a lot to love in that vid, not to sure its about dudes technique, or any perceived lack of it, but where have you ever seen a drummer toast his heads like that?

Re: Have you ever have someone in the audience tells you your playing a song wrong?

You know Larry... women are all about the 'feel'. You may have been playing a shuffle, but she probably wasn't feeling it.

Re: Trouble finding musicians

There's never a shortage of musicians, the trouble comes when you're looking for good, compatible musicians, guess that could fall under the 'fellow musicians' category.

Situations always...

Re: Have you ever have someone in the audience tells you your playing a song wrong?

I never play cover tunes correctly, just a very high level of implied correctness, in the 90th percentile.

If someone were to tell me Im playing it wrong, I'd reply with "I actually helped 'so...

Re: 2 up with a 12" tom as the smallest

Drums have a tuning range, and we're talking about who we accept to be a pretty experienced drummer. 'Any' note is not going to cut it.

A highly doubt Larry is going to play his 12" tom tuned...

Re: Need some help choosing a snare.

The best buy on a metal snare drum these days is ORIOLLO, their prices are great too.

I have a lot of personal experience with these drums and can tell you compared to a SUPRPHONIC (your example)...

Re: 2 up with a 12" tom as the smallest

He said 12 "tuned up high". 12 x8 and 13x9 short(er) toms don't have a great tuning range.

Re: 2 up with a 12" tom as the smallest

Would love to hear the notes your 12 and 13 are tuned to...

You say 1 "pretty high" so that's in the A#- B range

Re: 2 up with a 12" tom as the smallest

I'd say you might want to schedule an appoint with the doctor for your 10 tom, get it checked out, could be sick in the heads, or suffering from a bad rim job experience.

There's a guy on this...
