Re: Thor leaves Avengers, joins local symphony.

There is a thread recently about how drummers are generally very happy people.
I think we just found out why

A Yamaha Stage Custom Birch Snare.
A high pitch jam block

Re: Why arenít you better drummers?

As I want to answer the question, I can proudly say that right now, only time is my perceived reason that I'm not a better drummer. My practice has been made efficient, my technique as correct as it...

Re: New Years Resolutions???

My exact goals as a fellow eithgh grader. I have a bit of a head start on the band part: my cousin is very skilled at guitar, and he and I are very close. We are about a month apart age wise. We grew...

Re: Describing bands in one word

Lol. I think the guy who called this 'unnecessary' gave this thread one star.
As a great man once said...
"Is is necessary to drink my own urine? No, but I do it anyway because it's sterile, and I...

Re: Creating interesting and unique drum parts to originals?

I second this. Really pay attention to 'Los Angeles' , No Future, and Bottom of the Ocean. I loved learning those parts

Re: Describing bands in one word

I'm lost. Are you trying to describe all bands as unnecessary, or are you describing in one word that describing bands in one word is unnecessary?

Re: Describing bands in one word

That's pretty accurate. And any other opinion besides this is outright wrong and disgusting

Describing bands in one word

Move this thread if needed, but I couldn't really find any other place to put it.

So, just a band and a word, quite simple
Here are some:
Led Zeppelin: Energy
Rush: TIME
Metallica: Thrashing...

Re: Drum Related Injury Stories

Well, good to know I'm not the only one. I knew I probably wouldn't be, considering all of you guys have gigged around for years.
Give me some more gruesome stories!

Drum Related Injury Stories

Just a little thread for stories of getting injured from drums, hardware, sticks, etc.

Here's mine:
I was adjusting my 10x3 inch snare that was attached to my hi hat stand. I loosen the hardware...

Re: How often/much do you practice your rudiments?

My analogy was pretty freaking terrible. Moving on though,
Say for example you learned what a flam is. After you learn it, it doesn't really end there at all; there are other rudiments involving...

Re: How often/much do you practice your rudiments?

Not to be rude, but PLEASE tell me you're kidding about that. That's like saying you don't need to practice after you learn to play for about a month or two

Edit: Man, did I fall for that one...

Re: I finally get this small kit thing!!!

I rarely ever hesitate when improvising a fill with a 4 piece over a 7 piece. It's not that I have to think about what I'm doing, it's just that I tend to feel the need to hit everything I can when...

Re: Ulrich & Barker

That part was the point that got me into sextuplets. Then sextuplets got me into quintuplets, which got me into polyrhythms. Pretty cool stuff! :)

Re: Ulrich & Barker

Yeah, I figured that was implied. They are both on some VERY well known bands. I agree compeletely. Good Point!

Ulrich & Barker

So obviously, Travis Barker and Lars Ulrich both get quite a bit of hate from the drumming community, so I'm going to look on the postitive sides of both of them, finding good things to say about...

My swing. Mainly the solidity, endurance, and speed of it. Not only has it helped me immensely with jazz so far, but the hand speed gained in general is quite incredible. You should definetly check...

Re: What should I do on a practice pad?

Well dude,

If you asking what to do on a practice pad, I'm pretty sure that you practice on it.

In all seriousness, though, try to stay on the kit as much as you can. Only use a pad when a kit...
