Re: Ever had a band practice or jam session with you facing the wall?

I bet that's just the way the drums were stored. I prefer my band mates being able to see my ugly mug during practice.

Re: Different finish kick and toms

If the kit sounded good together, I personally wouldn't care.

If I really wanted everything to match but didn't want to spend a lot of money, I'd do BumWrap on everything. Otherwise I don't think...

Re: Do guitarists generally dislike rests on drums?

I've never heard of guitar players disliking rests on drums.

Re: Flaw in Green Glass Glitter finish

I've never seen this, even on the cheapest of drum sets (including stencil sets).

There's also the rare case that this could be an amateur re-wrap and he/she used a flawed wrap, but who knows?

It looks like you may have tried to post pics, but I can't see them.

Re: 8 lug snare drums. Thoughts?

Agreed. I am one of the 95% here. I play both 8- and 10-lug snares. Love them both.

Re: Convince me not to buy a Saturn V...

If you can't afford them, don't get them. Nothing in this world is worth getting into a stressful financial bind. If you buy something you can't afford, then you end up resenting the fact that you...

Re: I wish I didn't care when I was younger

I wish I wouldn't have bent so hell-bent on hating and not playing any music that wasn't rock and roll. I'm definitely paying the price for it now. I was a moron.

In addition, I played primarily...

Re: Need some help choosing a snare.

Although I'm a big Pork Pie fanboy, my favorite all-around snare is my Pearl Masters 14x5.5 maple snare drum. I use it with my PP USA drums at my church because we play a variety of musical styles,...

Re: Are you amused or offended when someone standing near you mimes your playing?

I don't mind at all. The only time I really see this is at church. I think it's pretty cool when the kids are doing it, but I think it's hilarious when grown men are doing it. Grown women just know...

Re: Drum Synthesizer Or Percussion Keyboard

Is this sort of what you are wanting to do?

If so, then Roland Ocotpad.

Re: merch

We only have download cards at this point. We recorded a project this past January, and this is the first full-length project that I've ever been involved in where we didn't have physical copies of...

Re: Most useful electronic drum sound

If I was playing arenas, I'd be tempted to blend a kick trigger with the kick mic.

Re: 2 up with a 12" tom as the smallest

I love the idea of a 10" rack tom, but I just like the feel and sound of a 12" rack. Always have. I also like the idea of a 14" as a floor tom, but I always find it lacking.

I need a full 16"...

What makes an adorable drummer?

You know what Caroline Corr does?

That. That right there.

Re: If you could educate the public about one thing concerning drumming/percussion, what would it be

Not to get into a religious discussion, but I wish I could tell all churches that drums are not "of the devil" and are quite useful during worship services.

You think I'm kidding.

Re: Are you glad drumming doesn't have crazy practice tools like golf?

Just did a search for "practice pad" at Musician's Friend, and it yielded 103 results.

Re: Mixing wood types in one drum kit

I don't like the idea of mixing wood types in one drum set (except maybe the snare), but if it works for you, and you feel it's the right tools for the job, I say go for it.

Re: Beginner Acoustic?

Good drums, but I just don't like those post-based tom mounts I like the ball and socket. I've had a couple of drum sets that had that post-based tom mount (including one Pearl set), and I simply...

Re: Drumhead Magazine Special Edition

I subscribed to Modern Drummer for years, and I let it run out well over a decade ago. Their "reviews" were really advertisements in disguise (and it was a poor disguise at that IMO). Even still,...

Re: So Extremely Proud ...

That's really cool!

I got to watch a former hammered dulcimer student of mine play Merlefest this year. It was a great feeling.
