Then the second beat is an octuplet (eight 16th instead of six)
The octuplet could also be notated as eight dotted...

Re: Help with Groove Essentials Tracks needed ...

Groove Essentials is probably a better source than the other one you found...
The book comes with mp3s, the video doesn't, unless you buy them bundled.

Like I told you already, the two tracks mentioned on page 122 are on the CD, and they are the last two tracks:
Track 87 (Chart Talkdown)
Track 88 (The 21 Minute Jazz Ramp)

They are on the CD...

Re: No love for 20" bassdrums?

I love 20" bass drums too!

Years ago, I remember it was difficult to find entry level sets for children/students, with a 20" bass drum and normal size toms (instead of power toms).

Vinnie Colaiuta back with Yamaha?

It looks like Vinnie Colaiuta recently played at an event called Yamaha Art (http://yamahaartblog.typepad.jp/backstage/2014/09/post.html)

And it also looks like there's a new Hip-Gig set!...

Re: Anti-Slip Drumsticks?

My hands are a little too dry, and sometimes for a quick fix I just make my fingers a little wet by licking them, but I normally use Zildjian Drumstick Wax.

Years ago, through my site I was...

Re: Good 'music filming' camera?

I plan to buy a camera, and I was hesitating about the Q4 for quite some time, and then I saw this Canon VIXIA Mini X in a shop about a month ago.
I couldn't test it sound wise, but it looks that it...

Re: New Play-Alongs?

Yes I do have the Big Phat Band Play Along Vol 1, and it looks very good, although I haven't started using it. There's a volume 2 out now, also.

I feel it's great to use computer technology to practice, and it can really help us being better musicians.

Re: New Play-Alongs?

Not many play-along recordings can match Riley's level of quality.

Peter Erskine's releases are musical and interesting.
You can find them in his diverse books but also on iTunes as Peter...

Re: Syncopated Rolls, Jim Blackley - Help needed

Practice method 3 is doubling the notes that are not accented, so no problem with patterns that have accents, you just double the other notes.

About the tempo, Blackley advocates practicing slowly...
