Re: Drum miking

You perceive i meant to insult you, yet you've been the first to draw insult. Is your opinion so infallible that i cannot disagree with it?

This website is generally useless, too many people...

Re: Drum miking

With thousands worth of equipment its pretty hard to fall short, you could use rockband microphones to record drums and still get an ok sound. Hell back in Elvis's day they used one mic to record...

Re: Drum miking

The goal of what i said wasn't to address mic placement, i was just telling him the basic equipment needed for quality recording.

Mic placement, as you obviously know, is a completely different...

Re: Drum miking

If the thought you're trying to get across is that you want to be able to hear your drum set through microphones, rather than raw, here's what i'd do.

Re: Metal vocals

The best way to identify your scream, is to examine it, record a few isolated tracks and listen to them tentatively, to the point where you could identify it like it was mitch lucker or phil bozeman....

Re: Mike Mangini" Drum

As a drummer, i'm phobic to my favorite bands getting new drummers. But it's relaxing to not hear those same fills Portnoy does over and over again. Straight 16ths and double kicking is just a way to...

Re: mounting a splash directly on high hat stand

Pocket makes a good point.

Further justifying this stance of the divide, I've mounted a splash like this on a few occasions, the result is a remnant buzzing sound, from the cymbal resting against...

Re: okay deal or no?

The kicks usually run up $300 floor toms around $200, that's just for the cheap models.
So that's already money saved, but that's if its a pretty low ender. I'd ask what the make is and do a little...

Re: Has anyone else ever stumble across this?

Think of it like this. The big corporations aren't so big, and ma and pa stores down the street were selling their own drum heads, that are under par, because they can't buy all that fancy factory...

Re: WE Are Smart

The only reason intelligence is more common among drummers is because we're using the same section of the brain that's used to solve problems. Keith moon negated this by all the mind debilitating...

Re: Louder snare drum

All i can rebuttal to the "too loud" responses on recording, is that they indeed have invented volume knobs on mixers.

i'm also referring to 7-ply heads, 10 ply is a little crazy.

To the St....

Re: Any advice for playing quieter bass?

try bouncing the beater on the head, rather than resting it against it between notes. this should improve your control, so you can be a bit more dynamic with your foot technique. plus the bouncing...

Online collaboration?

Ok, so I've been playing on my own for 2 years or so, and have no outlet for finding musicians physically at the moment. The musical solitude has just about bore all the way through my patience. I'm...

Re: Mike Portnoy says "Hearing the new Dream Theater is painful"

I think DT is just going the media whore route, don't get me wrong, everything before systematic chaos is groundbreaking, and as musicians they succeed me hypertrophicly, but its just a quagmire of...

Any suggestions for a warm trashy wash, with short sustain, but not as much to just make it sound like a cracked china ratcheted down

Re: Louder snare drum

haha its not as bad as you'd think, atleast in my opinion, the snares still have versatility, granted you sacrifice enough to separate opinions, but the sound factor is tremendously increased
