Re: New England area Music Stores

There is 247drums in Winchester, MA. Never been there, but I'd like to check it out someday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzxvJ-Y3XCE

Re: Clem Cattini

Very cool! I watched the whole thing. I'm glad he's starting to get more and more recognition.

Now I have to get that movie Telstar that Bermuda also recommends.

We need a page for Cattini...

Clem Cattini

You've probably never heard of him, but he has played drums on lots of older hit records. Check out this short news clip from a few years ago...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZU-gLt_9d64

I love...

Re: Apollo 100 -The Rare & Great "Drum" Version of the song "Popcorn" You've Probably Never Heard!

Youtube says that video/audio is from Anarchic System. They were a French band that did a cover of popcorn in 1972.

Re: Apollo 100 -The Rare & Great "Drum" Version of the song "Popcorn" You've Probably Never Heard!

The original was written by Gershon Kingsley and was on his 1969 album called "Music To Moog By." At least that's what Wikipedia and this Youtube page says....

Apollo 100 -The Rare & Great "Drum" Version of the song "Popcorn" You've Probably Never Heard!

If you're old enough, you may remember the song called Popcorn that I think was made famous by "Hot Butter" in the early 1970s. Apollo 100 did a very similar version of that song. But there is also...

Re: Who are some tasteful gospel drummers?

I consider Bill Maxwell to be very tasteful. I know him mostly from playing with Andrae Crouch and Keith Green in the 70s and 80s. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSXUZDO3i2I

Re: I may have been doing it wrong all this time..

Perhaps you might benefit from Zildjian's Anti-Vibe drumsticks. I have never used them myself, but they are supposed to help ease the shock going through your hands, especially on electronic kits.

Re: I must be a sesquipedalian

Interesting perspectives.

I mix B8, B15 and B20 all the time. Maybe that's why no one likes my drumming? Hmmm.

Re: Poll: Buddy Rich

This is what I know…

A drummer died and went to heaven. While he was standing at the pearly gates, he heard one of the most amazing drum solos he had ever heard.

He asked saint Peter, "Is that...

Re: Poll: Buddy Rich

There is a video of Buddy playing absolutely incredible in his later years. But he looked awful, almost like he was deathly ill and ready to keel over. Like you said, he had something almost...

Re: Anyone else notice the cost of sticks getting ridiculous

Ah. Maybe that was the case. Like others have stated, most of the time with Amazon the boxes are too big and they don't place enough stuffing in the box. I used to purchase blank CD-R spindles from...

Re: Anyone else notice the cost of sticks getting ridiculous

I recently ordered some sticks from Amazon. I'll probably never do that again. They put the sticks in a shipping bag that was too small for the sticks. The tips were sticking out of a gaping hole in...

Re: Joe English on Jaimo: He Was Incredible

Big fan of Joe English's drum and cymbal sound on his "Press On" album.

Wasn't it English that was auditioning for Paul McCartney and got the gig without knowing who he was actually auditioning...

Re: Poll: Buddy Rich

I think Buddy was the best ever on drums, IMO. It is very common to bring up the bad personality stuff about him. But I wonder why I hardly ever hear about John Bonham and his "personality problems."...

Re: This is a great interview with Jeff Pocaro

I watched that video a few weeks ago. What I love is his honesty. It shows that even the greats have trouble sometimes in some areas and often have to play beats they're uncomfortable with. Duh! I...

Re: Ringo Starr Plays the Song

It does not matter to me what the drummer is doing if I don't like the songs themselves. There are so many fantastic players that I rarely listen to because of the genre, or the songs, or the...

Re: Letting go vs focusing

If I don't focus and intentionally think about pushing the beat, I tend to unknowingly lag behind the beat too much. A couple of weeks ago I tried to "let go" and not intentionally push myself, which...

Hi SpareRib!

I'm curious as to how your kit was miked for the Tascam? Do you think you would tune this way for a live gig?

I know there are a lot of threads on keeping the top heads tighter...

Awesome! 2 of my heroes! The other guys with them aren't too shabby either. Hehe...

Re: Snare buzz help - sorry

I'm no expert, but I do believe that deeper snare drums have more of a tendency to produce snare buzz. At least that has been my own experience. My piccolo snare hardly has any snare buzz compared to...
