Re: Practicing in the dark?

I am intrigued by this. I'm not certain how much I rely on sight - playing with eyes closed is probably very different because you are focussing on that while you play - in the dark there is nothing...

Re: can this be used to connect triggers?

it will work!

if all you want is a signal to go into your software to trigger a sound, i don't see why this wouldn't work.

Re: Recording studio nightmare

This might be unrelated, but there are so many radio transmissions around the world that no-one owns up to, including static or more general noise.

check out the conet project...

Re: Anyone in a heavier band and not use double bass?

I really recommend listening to the album Get Some by Snot.
One of the most exciting albums to listen to as an instrumentalist.

Re: Studio annoyance; venting! proceed with caution!

I think that an important point that shouldn't be overlooked here is the respect that your band-mates give you. It's one thing being condescended to by an engineer whose job it is to know...

Re: Break it down

When I finish, i'll tend to have a little drink and smoke, and try not to talk to strangers. I'm not very good at it.
I can use packing my drumkit away as an excuse, therefore, not to talk to...

Re: Software Suggestion?

Try Ableton.

It is designed for almost exactly those tasks, and live performance.
I think there is a free (condensed) version of the software.

Re: Chronic Dragging.

there is a fine line between losing focus by over-concentrating and losing focus by over-relaxing.
This, to me, is one of the arts of playing in a band - training your brain to stay in the correct...

Re: What does 'shredding' mean?

so for me, shedding = drumming

Re: Favorite/Funny quotes

One of my first times playing out, at an open mic night:

When asked for his opinion on my drumming, a prominent drummer who was at the venue remarked,

"sounds like he's building a shed"

Re: Triger to midi delay vs Microphones lack of delay

Don't forget the speed of sound. This won't solve the problem but it's worth bearing in mind:

The closer the mic is to the source, the sooner the sound will be picked up. Therefore, there will...
