Re: Why the hate? (Lars Ulrich)

Lars gets the hate, because he deserves it.

-Lars started off a ground breaking band, a great metal band and his playing WAS GOOD back in the day. I saw numerous Metallica gigs and he pulled off...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Very talented drummer. Uses Sonor SQ2 mostly. He has youtube videos, training tools for drummers that would be a great place to start to learn his technique. Gavin's genius isn't about raw speed or...

Re: So and so is a good drummer, but...

Lars Ulrich is a good drummer, but now plays Metallica music like he doesn't even know how the song really goes. Lars maybe is doing "improv", which for him just means shitty placement of drum rolls....

Re: Did Bill Bruford stop practicing for a while?

LMAO...I love Bill's playing, but this is funny. I remember him saying something like, "I did some drum parts that challenged Alan White"....I mean it's true, but you need to say that? He doesn't...

Re: Did Bill Bruford stop practicing for a while?

One of my favorite albums ever. Completely magical album....that was the last album of that particular KC lineup...Larks and Bible Black were also equally brilliant, but Red was more frantic to me...

Re: Did Bill Bruford stop practicing for a while?

This! Which is one reason I admire Alan White...NO, White is not near the drummer Bill is, but Alan learned the YES live catalog in like 3 days...that's got to be a daunting task.

Most written...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Gavin is great, I don't think much needs to be added from what has already been said. He is technically talented, creative, and his drums always sound so damn nice.

I love Porcupine Tree SO MUCH...

Re: Drummers who've inspired your playing

I would say that I went through different stages of drumming. Keith Moon was the first to make me aware of the drums, and then I got into him and Peter Criss, then finally got serious when I got into...

Re: THE CLASSIFIEDS - For Sale / Wanted

Re: Gavin Harrison

Just stick with it. I no longer play in a band (nerve issues on right arm/shoulder), but I mess around in my basement with various tunes. One of my favorite songs to play is "Sound of Muzak"...I have...

LMMFAO...is this for real? Counting it as two pieces? LMMFAO...oh god I won't ever stop laughing at this one. Speedboat? Haha

Re: If you could Have Lessons Fron Any Professional Drummer Who Would It Be?

Gavin Harrison hands down. I've seen interviews with him and clips on youtube of him at drum clinics and he offers up little tidbits of advice that really help my drumming. Moreso than any other...

Re: Good Setup?

Now I never said it was either/or...When I setup my rig, the ride is one of the 'most important' pieces for me, because I set it behind the floor and take great precaution to make sure I can access...

Re: Playing in a band VS Playing alone

I feel for you bro. But it WILL get easier. Just keep plugging away...and remember, bands NEED us.

I actually got a gig one time without the band ever even seeing me or hearing me play. Me and...

Re: Good Setup?

Ride most important? Hey now.. I'm no jazz player. :) ... Yes the ride is indeed important, no arguments there. I would be perfectly fine with the ride over the right side of the kick, but I don't...

Re: Good Setup?

Isn't it all about personal preference? Personally I like the 2 up/ 1 down because I can do faster rolls than 1 up / 2 down. I also believe access to the 2nd tom is easier when it's to the right of...

Re: Sharing Your Own Drums At Gigs

Dr Watso...that's probably a good disclaimer.

That situation happened to me only 1 time...most drummers like using their own gear and setup. No two drummers play exactly the same setup.

Re: Bands ahead of their time? The 60's

Without a doubt ... YES.

On edit: Forget it...I thought Fragile came out in the 60s for some reason... On edit that was early 70s.

Re: Sharing Your Own Drums At Gigs

Good question dude and others may think differently.

OK...sometimes you 'have' to share a rig depending on change-over time.

But I absolutely refuse to do it anymore. I can get setup pretty...

Awesome. Gavin Harrison. I have become obsessed with Porcupine Tree over the last few months. My wife is totally sick of you guys. Haha.

Re: Your Dream Sub For Your Gig.

While I was never inspired by him (though I do like him now), I play very much like Dave Grohl...so he'd be the guy to fill in for me.

Re: Is anyone as fast, or faster at fills that dennis chambers?

I think I'm going to quit playing drums now. Holy hell is that guy insane.
