Re: Hi Hat Rod

I've cut every hi-hat rod I've ever owned off. Makes no sense to me to have 12"-18" of rod sticking up off the hats. I'd much rather have a splash or small china utilizing that space...

Cheers!

Re: Superbowl Halftime - Zak Starkey

...and what about his kit? Ultra-clean and fit the gig perfectly. Kinda makes me pine for a set of acrylics...

Cheers!

Re: Tune-Ups and maintenance

Maintenance? Maintenance? Did you say, "Maintenance"?

Pfffft. Play it hard until she breaks and then...

Re: someone says you suck at drums, what do u do?

I'd have politely said, "I appreciate your opinion. Isn't it a wonderful thing that we're all entitled to one...even jacka_ _es like yourself?"

Then I'd have given him a wink and walked away...

Re: Hitting the cymbals on the bottom?

I saw a guy play years ago in a rock band who as a break would come up almost all in one motion, give a crash cymbal kind of like a glancing blow from the bottom with his right hand, and then almost...

Re: Remote hi-hat

I play double bass and bought the Gibraltar Ulta-Adjust Hat Stand in an effort to get my hats closer so I'm not reaching so far because of the slave pedal. The more I play it, the more I hate it. I...

Re: It's depressing

That's exactly what I'm planning to do as my next project....as soon as I decide what ply snare shell to buy (maple).

Suggestions? Recommendations?

Cheers!

Re: cymbal samples on websites...

I play Paiste Signature Crashes and 2002 Chinas and am over an hour away from the nearest store that carries them. And the store that carries them only has a limited variety....your standard 16",...

Re: You know you're addicted to drumming when...

I knew I wasn't the only one. My Border insists on laying either next to or behind my floor tom while I play. You just know he gets uncomfortable at times, but damn if he'll move. Their loyalty is...

Re: Your practise schedule - Tips and tricks!

I sit down, check that my throne is secured in it's fully upright position, take 2 deep breaths, and proceed to beat the hell out of everything within arm's reach for 1.223 hours (give or take).

Re: Bass drum leg problem

Without knowing what's "coming loose", if it's a thread/nut or thread/wingnut interface, you might want to try a little teflon tape on the threads (the stuff used on plumbing fittings for drip-free...

Re: MY E-MAIL TO PDP/DRUM WORKSHOP

Dead on, 7Days.

I play M birches with Aquarian heads I couldn't be happier. The warranty is the icing on the cake; they sound as good as sets that cost twice the price (or more).

Cheers!

Re: Drum Guy , Cymbal Guy ?

5 toms, 12 cymbals.

"Wankery" aside, my motto is surround yourself with cymbals and you greatly reduce the odds of a swing-and-a-miss! An added advantage is that they help obscure those really...

Re: stick tricks

I soak the tips of mine in lighter fluid for a couple hours before the show and then light them up right before my 9:48 long drum solo. I dance and spin and twirl like a Pyromaniacal Whirling...

Re: Planned on renting , saw this , what do ya think?

Agree 100%, and you're going to see dozens more do the same. There is almost no reason to buy new right now...the used market is that good.

There are dozens of options and websites for used...

Re: Repairing wooden Djembe drums

Minwax makes a wood filler product that comes in a little can (like stain) and is essentially wood pulp with some stong fillers that penetrate and bond to the existing wood. Better than glue IMO, as...

Re: Playing barefoot bad for you.

Cripes. One more thing to have to worry about. I had to immediately place it #4 on my list of things to remember not to do every day.

...sitting too close to the TV causes blindness....
