Re: How Can I Get My Maple Snare Sound Fat?

Yes. Shoots and Scores!!!

#1 is what I do. If you picked C as the note to tune the batter head, go a step or a step and 1/2 lower on the reso. So B or A#/Bf. Because you don't only want a fat...

I'm also confused by the OP's question. Is this just polyrythms over 4/4? or 11/8th's?

I play Greek traditional music and we're rarely in common time. Alot of 5/8s, 7/8's, 9/8's and yes 11/8s...

Re: Tuning Help - Mapex M-Birch

Some good advice above.

I'd suggest a 3inch strip of electrical tape on the resonant and batter head. Add two if you want a more muffled sound.

Re: Set Suggestions?

I have those on my list. I'd like to play a set before ordering, especially when it comes to a wood that I'm not familiar with and anything that performs well with low tuning sounds delicious.

Re: Set Suggestions?

I should also mention that I'm not looking for anything big.

Bigger kits (which I consider to be more than 7 shells) are great for phrasing and can really come in handy with certain types of...

Re: Set Suggestions?

Really, I'm looking for quality (for the money) drums. Unfortunately, Yamaha does not make a set in my price range, their birch series looks somewhat decent though. Anyways, I've been considering the...

Now that I've...
