Re: Possibly my first serious thread. Sexism.

Actually, we do in America. We have African-Americans, Asian-Americans, Mexican-Americans, Jewish-Americans, etc. They are all Americans.

Re: Possibly my first serious thread. Sexism.

Re: Possibly my first serious thread. Sexism.

What I see is that women are still trying to define themselves in this modern age. Men have always been men, but women see equality as power. Women, it seems, more than anything, want to feel...

Re: Who does this, really?

I've never owned a bag or a case. Of course I've never owned a drum set nice enough to warrant buying such gear.

Re: Possibly my first serious thread. Sexism.

Off subject, sorry Madge, but I'd say reggae is rooted in the ska movement to be more exact. Not the other way around, but that's neither here nor there. Anyway...

Re: Possibly my first serious thread. Sexism.

This is not meant to be a sexist comment but maybe our expectations are lower when it comes to talent. For instance, female comedians rarely make me laugh. There are exceptions, but for the most...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Got me a new set of coated Emperor heads for my toms. They come with the Professional Drum Shop logo on them when you buy them from there.

Re: Snare Cord - What Knot?

That is kind of what I thought you meant. Definitely over channel. I just learned something today myself. Thank you
He also fixed my P 85 strainer using a simple pair of pliers and twisting it back...

Re: Snare Cord - What Knot?

I'm just using the standard 16 strand wires. They're probably the original wires that came with the drum back in 1981 or whenever this thing was made. I use 16 strand wires on every snare drum. I'm...

Re: Snare Cord - What Knot?

I went to professional drum shop today to get my Acrolite fixed and I noticed he used square knots. I had cord on the strainer side, and I had a strap on the butt strip side. He replaced them both...

Re: Good and bad customer service.

I hear you. And I'm aware of that about you. Didn't mean to really offend anybody. Probably just being self-righteous you know.

I never really get bad customer service, but then again I've never...

Re: Great car for a drummer

I can fit a drum set into just about every car that I've owned, but the most convenient is my current car which is an small SUV (Mitsu Outlander) where the back seats fold down. I've always liked...

Re: What makes music classic, timeless?

Ask the Beatles. I think they will be one of the few relevant 20th century bands a hundred years from now.

Re: Good and bad customer service.

It blows me away how many problems people have with their equipment. I never have these stick or head problems where I feel that I need to contact a customer service to replace sticks or heads. I've...

Re: Stupid Invention

Looks like a fun party gag. Where can we use inflatable drums? Maybe we can take them camping and play them at the campfire. Just don't get too close.

Re: Neil Peart

After owning (and watching a couple times) his video called Taking Center Stage, I have nothing but the utmost respect for the guy. Not that I didn't before, but seeing him in that video helped me to...

Re: Learning to play well on a 4 piece kit ....

I'm really torn. I play a 5-piece for my warehouse band, but I play a 4-piece when I gig with the classic rock band. I might like playing a 4-piece a little more, but I like having the extra tom with...

Re: Importance of a good drum throne?

I've never owned a Roc-n-Soc, but as far as thrones go, I've never owned a better, more comfy one than my Tama First Chair drum throne.

Re: 420 musicians onstage

I hear ya. I'm not always carrying some of my own.

I like what you say about getting inside the music, and I agree that it can help with that. I can't say the same with my guitar playing though.
