Re: For those who play at church or not.

I know Curt personally and trust me, he has seen the best and the worst in a wide variety of church acoustics and their worship team members. He isn't singling out drummers necessarily to be the...

Re: Is Don Henley relevant here?

The Eagles Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 was named best selling album of the century. With the current state of the music business and sales that record may never be broken. I have nothing but...

Re: Many cymbals yes, but many snares?

Over the last 48 years I've only owned one snare drum at any given time. I did collect around 27 cymbals, but that was over a period of 40 years of slowly and strategically assembling four "sets" of...

Re: What's your story about how you started drumming?

When I was seven years old my Mom made me choose between taking piano lessons or tap dancing lessons. Taking tap likely would have led to an early demise in our neighborhood, so I opted for piano...

Re: To sell or keep my old Stage Customs: A dilemma

I agree . . . it's time to let them go. But definitely get another back up kit that you're excited about.

Re: 14x4?

If I could only have two snare drums of different sizes it would be a 4 X 14" and a 6.5 X 14". No question about it.

My favorite two 4 X 14" snares: Legend Phosphor Bronze (own it) and a Joyful...

Re: Looking for a single mic to record covers at home

I pretty much use a variety of Audio-Technica mic's on my kit. The AT-2020 and AT-2035 would be good options in your price range.

If you can hunt down a used Oktava MK-012 condenser, you might be...

Re: New Score off eBay

Nice score Pete. I got that exact finish also a month before Yamaha discontinued the Recording Custom series. My vendor told me I rescued quite a few of the last remaining single drums from the...

Re: Best snares on the market

+1 on the Dunnett 2N Stainless Steel. I wasn't even in the market for a metal snare but I snagged one the instant I heard it. Amazing drum!

Of course the definitive answer to the best snares on...

Re: Ebay dissapointment

Ditto to everything posted here. I've used eBay for many years and have only recently had a few purchases that were not accurate. I've found contacting the seller directly and telling him you do...

Re: Drum setup

Ditto. I'd set the 14 inch tom aside and go 13/16/18 with a 24" kick.

The 6.5" snare will be more versatile than the 5" depth. I think you'll be glad you went with the 6.5" depth. You can...

Re: Looking for a new snare drum

For your situation there are so many great options available. Based on my experience and preferences I would say to consider first a quality bronze snare drum (Joyful Noise Beacon or any of the...

Re: joyful noise owners?

I also own a 14 X 6-1/2" TKO. Worth every penny in my book. I hope to add a 14 X 6-1/2" Beacon Bronze as well as a 14 X 4" NOB standard issue someday.

Just be sure to audition them before...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

14-years old, but new to me. I recently purchased it from a guitarist's studio where it sat virtually untouched since 2000 on a drum kit. For all practical purposes it is like brand-new.

Re: Great car for a drummer

I've been running a 1995 Honda Odyssey (first generation) for almost 20 years now. 260,000 miles and still going strong. Not really fond of the whole mini-van image, but it's been a great vehicle. ...

Finally pony upped for a Protection Racket case for my 14-year-old DW 5000 strap pedal.
