Re: Suggestions for an intermediate Drummer?

I learn from charts. I am always studying new rhythms.

There may be drum tabs that can give you a clearer idea of how to play some drum parts of your favorite songs.

Re: As if THAT ever happens...

It's nice to know that there are some decent venue managers out there.

This sounds like a good business relationship and Iíd hold on to it.

Re: Having trouble with right stick hand...suggestions please?

You have been away from drums for a while. Maybe you have to build up strength and stamina in your hands and arms. Work slowly, practice every day, eat more protein, see if the problem disappears.

Re: would you buy a ludwig accent drum set...

I don't know, that bass drum is a little small and new heads are an additional $ 100. Do you have bass pedal, hi hat, cymbals and stands? Cause this is looking more like a $ 300 deal after you are...

Re: Organizing and Handling Sheet Music

I have a stack of sheets. I have used a 3 ring binder but don't any more.

Re: Outdoor Shows - Head and Humidity

You don't have a fan? In this weather you need a fan. Even when it is cooler I still bring my fan, just in case I need it.

Re: Drumming dreams

It happened to me a few days ago. I was playing drums in front of an audience of many people on a hot summer day.

Re: Why Musicians DON'T Deserve to Get Paid

Just about everyone in my area is so inept at business that I doubt any enterprise they launch makes money. Musicians are no different.

Re: Boy, I am having a difficult time starting a new project.

Tell people first thing that you play classic rock or whatever and do not play metal.

Re: Less Playing = More Kudos

Ballads are often very simple, little to do. I look at the audience.

Re: No tip jar, still getting tips

Yep, that's how it works. I always put out a tip jar unless it's a private party.

Re: Do you accept every gig you're offered or are you picky?

I'm always concerned about being mis-booked. If an audience wants to hear metal, well I don't play metal. It's just not my thing. So I avoid those kinds of gigs.

Re: Drinking and Drumming

I don't drink when I'm working. I did that during a gig once and quickly turned into a completely useless mess.

Re: I'm at a loss. I can't tune a drum to save my life.

Something is happening here. Lugs should turn, maybe not easily but they should turn.

Re: Silly branding things that shouldn't matter (but do!)

I don't care about brand names but somebody else might.

I care about performance, how it sounds, how easy it is to move.

Re: Bought an e-kit (Yamaha DD65) - Lessons off YouTube, DVDs or teacher?

I don't think it matters what drum kit you use. You might watch some you tube videos and learn how to hold the sticks correctly. Then practice single stroke and double stroke rolls, slowly at first...

Re: Drumming in the pre digital age.

People used to go out and see live music, maybe spend $ 100 / month. Now they spend $ 100 / month on internet and stay home.
