Re: Drummer Sweat

I never used to sweat while drumming until recently where I've just thought "screw it" and just got absolutely laid into the kit.
I'm considering drumming in shorts/ 3/4 lengths and a tank top or...

Re: Metronome?

I ALWAYS play to a click!

I never used to, used to hate it, because I wasn't too confident at playing along with one.

At gigs, we got carried away and songs would speed up and some of the...

Re: What's the best way to play backing tracks live?

I always play to a click live.

I'm looking to get into this backing track with click thing too but I just can't get my head round it at all.

Re: Note taking when someone is playing a new track. What's the most effective way?

When I'm writing with the band I do something similar for new tracks, for example:

Intro - 2 (1:Guitar, 2:Guitar & Bass)
Verse - 4 (1-2 Guitar, Bas Drums.. 3-4(Lead Guitar & Vocals)
PreChorus -...

My band done a festival last summer, played 20 minutes and got 150. Not too shabby :)

Re: Advice on IEMs

This is something I've been looking at but one thing I'm scared of is not hearing the click properly with everything else going in my ears. So at the moment I just use ear phones with a click app on...

Re: Distorted Floor Tom Sound When Recording

Reading down the posts the first thing I thought of was a tuning issue.

Listening to the second, although it sounds better, to me it still doesn't sound great. Sounds like there's a tuning issue...

Re: DrumFill App by MKdrums

I'm always stuck with drum fill ideas and when I get a really good one, which is a bit tricky on counting, I annoy myself sometimes working out the counting and how to play it with a click.

Re: Gig instructions....

In the early days of my band starting out, before we knew what the music scene was like, we just wanted to get a few gigs.

We've had this "bring about 15-20 people" thing before and didn't get...

Re: Not allowed to touch kit???

I've supported bands before where I'm not allowed to play their kit but I've brought my own.
I've never heard of having to using a house kit and not being able to adjust anything and not even...

Re: Wrist pain/hitting too hard

I can't see the video unfortunately.

If I could add something it would be not to hold the sticks too tightly

Re: How to get a 'click' sound from my 22"X18" and 18"X14" bass drums?

Or tune both heads to medium tension and completely stuff the bass drum with pillows so it's completely dead. Use a wooden beater and you're sorted...

Of course, your bass drum will sound like...

Re: Wrist stiffens up when going too fast

Warm up and stretch before you start playing. This should help.

It will take some time to get your weaker hand on par with your strong hand so you will need to be patient.
Try using a pillow or...

Re: Using others' kits, and others using yours

I hate using other peoples kits because:
1) Usually they sound absolutely horrible.
2) They don't take care of their equipment.
3) Nothing worse than using another persons cymbal stands and you...

I had issues there recently, after not playing for a few weeks, with my footwork being clumsy and slow.
I knew I could play certain patterns & tempos but recently it just wasn't happening.

Re: Am I suddenly having trouble keeping counts?

Oh to add, it's not that he has to count when he's singing - I think that would be very off putting.

He just needs to improve his internal clock by singing along to the mp3's (which are recorded...

Re: Interesting cymbal positioning

I don't see any benefit to doing this at all. It looks different, that's all.
Plus, the wing nuts tend to gradually loosen - Well in my experience. So If you set up like this when you hit your...

Re: PDP X7 vs. Tama Superstar Hyperdrive 6pc.

I'd go with the Tama.
