Re: George Kollias Double Kick Technique
I'm quoting Tim Waterson here, but I remember George told him that he plays mainly with his ankle on his right foot and uses the ankle on the left but also swivels on every second beat. So it's like...

Lutz! You're a god!
That's so awesome man, thanks a lot. I've been meaning to transcribe some of Jojos performances for a while, but now I don't have to! haha
I just thought I'd say, I was told...

Re: Drumming opposite handed...
When I was 14 or so I decided to learn all the songs I knew with the same kit setup as the drummer that played them. So for example, I learned Muse songs left handed, SYL songs open handed etc. And...

Re: Double Bass Dilemma
Well, on my part it only took a year, I guess everyone's different. Reward yourself when you achieve, but never be laid back about it. Try to top a drummer, & when you do, move on to another. It's...

Re: members getting banned
I really hate when people bash Matt, he just doesn't deserve the crap. And anyone willing to take it too far on a discussion forum deserves to be banned. I was banned myself once, and thanks to the...

Re: Using Ankle weights to develop speed?
To be honest I didn't notice that much of a difference when I used ankle weights. I do use a whole leg motion, and I didn't really feel a whole lot different with them on or off. Maybe that's just...

Drummer in Scotland?
Hey,
There's a forum just up for the Scottish drumming community, check it out at www.scotrhythm.co.uk. Shame the Scottish drum day wasn't on this year cause of the economy and such, but maybe...

Re: R.I.P.: LOUIE BELLSON
Well this is pretty... shocking. What a loss.
Poor Louie, and all his family. I was blwn away the first time I heard his drumming and he's always been a big bit of inspiration. I had hopes of...

Re: Endurance builders
Care to explain what this exercise is exactly? It sounds pretty effective.
I've heard of this one before, but could you explain what it is?
I pretty much agree with Matts post, you've gotta...

Re: Improving sight reading
I'm pretty good at reading. I write out drum tracks in manuscript notation all the time. Just having trouble playing along to what I see. Thanks though, I've just bought some new books...

Re: Our own worst enemies
Well it's like the difference between old tape decks and digital recording. In short, the magnetic properties of the tape brought out really quiet harmonics that gave a sound everyone agrees to be...

Re: Our own worst enemies
Ah, I see.
Again, a variax can get you any tuning you want. Noise gates are quite a pain, too. I guess it's all subjective. For example, I really like a cold sound, warm tones really annoy me.

Re: Our own worst enemies
Tramp?! You with the beer in your avatar?! Calling me a tramp? Yeah, that's right... I'm judging you.
Yeah the 300, I would so love a 700. There's almost no difference in tone, but you feel a lot...

Re: going 120 / 140bmp
First of all, play at a speed you're comfortable at for a while. By a while I mean anything from a month to a year, you can't rush it. You need to develop good control so you don't hurt your muscles....
