Re: Underrated drummers...

Totally agree with this one. I never saw the Minutemen live but saw fIREHOSE many times and Hurley just killed it every time. Big influence on me as far as the funk/punk thing goes...

Re: Jerry Gaskill

I mostly lurch around here but I have to agree that Jerry is a very skilled and very tasteful player. I've been listening to the old King's X CDs quite a bit recently and it has really struck me how...

Re: Trimming the ol' Tree

Even stripping down from 2 to 1 rack tom made me approach fills differently. It's good to 'shake up' your habits once in a while, if nothing else.

Re: Bet you can't pull this off

The other thing that is impressive is that on the later verses he gets a lot more random, starts mixing...

Re: Gil Sharone

Saw Dillinger last night and Gil just blew me away. He definitely fills Pennie's big shoes well!
BTW that acrylic kit is strong as hell.; Ben (guitarist) kept jumping on and off of the bass drum...

Re: PDP Pacific drums LX Exotic and good?

Yep, in my opinion they sound good. I had planned on using just the 10 and the 14 like I had in my previous kit (1 up 1 down), but they sounded so good I had to use all 3 toms!

I just got PDP LXE's about a month ago and I am loving them!
I guess you could say they are the "poor man's DW" or whatever, but I think they sound and look great. Once I replaced the factory heads...
