Re: Levon Helm

I'm 32 - does that count as old?! I think it probably does...

But regardless, he definitely deserves recognition, not least as one of the best ever drummers/lead vocalists. I love his compact...

Re: Vintage Drum Cleaning

Hi everyone. I have an old Hayman drumkit (http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/hayman_history.html)(1968 model) which I have had for over 15 years. When I got it as a teenager I didn't know anything...

Re: Need advice for buying an acoustic set of drums???

Re: Need advice for buying an acoustic set of drums???

This is a good point. So many people spend all their money on getting a nice kit but then settle for a sub-standard set of cymbals. And for me the cymbals and the snare are the most important parts...

Re: Ludwig v Gretsch

Thanks for the replies and the really useful info. My Hayman is still a lovely kit - it's been played to death now but it's still in good condition and sounds great. Plus I kept all the original...

Re: Ludwig v Gretsch

Thanks for the replies dudes. I think the Renowns will be out of my price range sadly. Anyone play a Ludwig Accent Custom CS kit? Any good?

Ludwig v Gretsch

Hey I am thinking of upgrading my vintage kit (a '69 Hayman - a now defunct British kit). I'm looking for a similar vintage sound and have about £500 - £600 ($1000) to spend on a 3 piece shell pack...

Re: RECORDING DRUMS - tips, questions, equipment, etc.

If you can only afford to get one mic, make it the Shure SM57. EVERYONE uses it, from professional studios (it is probably the most used microphone in studio recording) to bedroom recordists. It's a...

Re: Lars ulrich question

Totally agree with this.

There's a funny bit in that Metallica film Some Kind of Monster where Lars tries to do this weird off beat on this new song they're trying out. He's obviously trying to...

Re: Recording Thread

For my band's second album we used a studio in London - run by a super cool guy who's just starting out and therefore has cheap rates.

Even though he increasingly uses Pro Tools to record he...

Re: Karen Carpenter

I think she wanted to play drums more but was forced to solely be a singer for commercial reasons. People say this was just one of the many factors that led to her condition...

Re: THE BIG KITS VS SMALL KITS DEBATE

I think we all pretty much agree that size doesn't matter (though I enjoyed Womble's post greatly!), but what I will say is that the look of the kit is equally as important as sound. I know this...
