What you are missing is a member that continually asked questions based on premesis that were at best misleading at worst blatent lies.

He constantly ignored advice given and kept asking similar...

I tend to tune "low" with my toms, especially with the floor toms.

So I start with the reso and tune it by small increments from the point the lugs are finger tight ( say 1/4 of a turn per lug)
