Re: Sean Kinney

IMO, Sean Kinney is an AMAZING drummer with some mad skills. His groove on the intro to 'No Excuses" is simply slick, and his independance work on "Would" IMO is pretty impressive.

The thing that...

Re: VLT Snare

No, it wasn't "necessary", and yes, no one deserves responses like that. But all he did was state his opinions, which are pretty much the same as mine. Maybe the issue is that he spoke his mind, and...

Re: Taylor Hawkins plays with Rush!

Guess what, you're wrong!!!

I"m a HUGE Peart fan, and I can honestly appreciate what you have said.

I think the thing with Neil Peart is that he is ALL business behind the kit, and really...

Re: Drums Outside Overnight

A lot of people feel the same way...untill it happens to them. If someone is hard up for $$$$, you think they are going to be selective on what they are about to steal?

Re: Drum Workshop Worth The Cash?

I take it then when you purchase anything you check the label to see where its made?? Since it seems everything these days is made in China or somewhere in Asia or some third world country, and since...

Re: Drum Workshop Worth The Cash?

I really like the comparison of a Subaru to a Porsche.

To elaborate on your point I would simply say: When it comes to the Subaru and Porchse, yes both are cars. To me, which one would I want to...

Re: What kind of wood is best?

Not sure, but I think that I read somewhere that Steve Gadd's kit has maple toms and a birch bass.

Re: What to expect from a drum lesson?

I have a friend that teaches drums. Here was his approach:

First he never charged for the first lesson, as he considerd it a "feeling out period".
He then asked what the student was looking to...

Re: New Member - 45 yr. old wants to play!

All the kits that have been mentioned are great kits, i'll throw in the Ludwig Accent Como.
Cheap, and with some good heads sounds pretty decent.

I started playing seriously last year at the age...

Re: Gigging with a "beginner"set

Thanx for all the feedback everyone, much appreciated.

I'm going to take some advice, and see if the wife will let me sport for a decent used ride, maybe another AAX crash. For $350 I can get a...

Re: Gigging with a "beginner"set

My toms have the Pearl style L-arms, and they stay in place perfectly. My hardware is super sturdy "medium weight" and is light enough for my 40 year old back. I...

Gigging with a "beginner"set

Good Sunday morning everyone, heres a question for you.

Who played drums on Eric Clapton's "Old Love"

Was just wondering who played drums on Clapton's "Old Love"? I heard it for the first time last night, and was left with chills. The snare sound is simply amazing, as is the whole kit itself. And at...

Re: For anyone who builds there own drums...

What about using a small beer keg??? Made out of aluminum, pretty sturdy, and if you look you can come buy one for free or on the cheap. Plus with the taper, could make for some interesting sounds.

Re: Where do you put your drums?/Practise rooms

I have an attached garage "heated" where I store my drums and set em up to practice. My wife bought me a nice area rug to set em up on as well!
It's a lot better than our old house, where if I...

Re: Practicers or Players?

First off, Billy Ward is AMAZING!!!

BUT....

IMO drumming is not like learning to drive a car. When you learn to drive, there are a few basic movements. You use one foot for the gas, one for the...

Re: pro drummers with bad technique

IMO, a pro drummer with bad technique...Tommy Aldridge.

I checked him out at a clinic last year, and his sticks were all over the place in his hands, just swaying too and fro. And his arms seemed...
