Re: Anyone suggest good drum bags?

I asked Tony and Shane up in Portsmouth about these. They contacted the US Distributor who told them they aren't being offered in the states. Not being in the drum bag business I can't imagine why we...

Re: Traveling

All the time, Europe especially. Except, instead of bars I'm more apt to seek out places of historical significance. Unless of course there's a smokin' band playing live locally then I'd check them...

Re: Hearing the upbeat as the downbeat

To the O.P. I have the same problem and some tunes are harder for me than other ones. After 30 years, for some reason this one still messes with my head for the 1 at the intro: ...

Re: I suck at power ballads.

Thinking about the power-pop ballads of the past I've realized that if I can live comfortably at 72 BPM I should be okay.
Beware...behind the turbo toms, wind chimes and timpani that accompany the...

Thanks for posting this. I never met him, but reading this it seems to me he was a very knowledgeable teacher who spoke with clarity and authority to get the best out of the individual who was taking...

Re: I suck at power ballads.

It's just the way I feel about the songs I guess. I can keep time, play with dynamics and I understand the song structure but there's a musical disconnect for me.

Maybe I need to learn to embrace...

I suck at power ballads.

I just realized how unconvincing I play power ballads. You know those Star Search/Showtime at the Apollo/America's Got Talent etc... songs that repeat the chorus at least six times with the big...

Re: Kick Drum physics experts in the house?

"On a general note, many studio players I know use a full resonant head, with any additional attack element required being picked up from a batter head mic."

Re: Good ear plugs(or other sound attenuation methods) for liver performance...?

Re: Cost to ship a kit?

Depending on where in MA and where to in PA, you can actually ship heavy boxes relatively cheaply on Amtrak trains using their "Express" service. Usually arrives within 8 hours.

Re: Do you vacialte? I do a lot...

For me it's Big Band swing and Prog Rock.

Re: Stave snare head recommendations?

I've been using the coated Ambassador as well on my thick (1") stave cherry drum. I may try a Vintage Ambassador next as I've had good luck with that model on my brass snare. It may improve the...
