Re: What is your drum setup pet peeve?

I'm 5 ft 10 in. Part of issue about height also has to do with trying to make sure I am visible behind the kit, not just for vanity but I also sing lead on a few songs. I would love to be able to...

Re: What is your drum setup pet peeve?

"On the other side of the fence, pet peeve is drummers who haven't got a clue how to tune their instrument, or any appreciation of appropriate tuning for the situation. Disappointingly, that's 90%+...

Re: What is your drum setup pet peeve?

Jim,

I bought my current Mapex kit after 30 years out of playing and bought the best sounding kit for the money I had available. I thought the deep toms would be great since I like a deep sound....

Re: What is your drum setup pet peeve?

Just had to play another persons kit with a 1 up 2 down config. Wow I hated it. So far to go from rack to floor tom.

Crappy heads with duct tape.
Really poor quality BD pedals.

Re: Help with middle fill in Whole Lotta Love

Thanks guys! Much appreciated. I was working on it last night based on what I transcribed and starting on the 1/16th. It just didn't quite feel right. So what you posted Bud seems more like it. I'l...

Re: Help with middle fill in Whole Lotta Love

Help with middle fill in Whole Lotta Love

I did a search to see if this has been covered but could not find it so apologies if I missed it. We are doing Whole Lotta Love and I am not sure I am getting the fill coming out of the orgasmic...

Re: Buddy Rich Playing Matched Grip!

If I lean is has to do with getting into the moment, not because that is the only way I can play using traditional. And Winegums, did you really just whine that people don't respond to you on a forum...

Re: Buddy Rich Playing Matched Grip!

This post irritates me. It is clear you took issue with one side of an argument. This forum is as far from an old boys club as I have found on the internet. I happen to think Les has not made any...

Re: Poll: Buddy Rich

"I doubt it, I reckon more people know about Travis Barker than they do Buddy Rich."

Don't put much money on this one. And, then you follow up with this?

"But that's only a very narrow...

Re: Band leaders

I am not sure who the leader is to be honest. I thought it was the person that contacted me and after the audition asked if I was in. But he is not too keen on leading or making decisions.

We...

Re: But What To Wear?

Hmm lots of negatives for things I wear. Maybe the baseball hat I wear backwards is only works in my mirror?

Those that said no to baseball hats does this fit in the despised category? By the way...

Re: Why the hate? (Lars Ulrich)

I am not a big metal or Metallica fan so from a personal standpoint I am not to keen on Lars. But it does seem as though their early music was inspirational. Personally I am not a big fan of bass...

Re: But What To Wear?

" And when in doubt, wear black."

I have always been drawn to black clothes and with piano black lacquer drums it has become constant. I wear black pants and black t shirts, some with band logos...

Re: Can you read sheet music?

I learned to read music as a kid taking lessons and playing in various school bands/orchestras and the Junior Philharmonic. Every one of those situations I was a percussionist (save the time when I...

Re: Poll: Buddy Rich

I really never understand why people let a musician's personality cloud their judgement of their skills. Lots of people you may look up to may also be a holes and you just don't know it.

Buddy is...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

I bought this Acrolite off of craigslist last weekend and after some trails and tribulations it is ready to play with new heads and a new set of snares.
