Re: Pork Pie Beech snare no longer available?

Yeah they stopped making them about a year or two ago. I was looking to get one after i sat in on a friends kit one night. I thought it was an amazing sounding drum.
Are you looking to sell...

Re: The aging musician

Interesting topic. Just ask yourself, do I still enjoy playing? If it's yes, then i wouldn't worry too much about the rest.

Sure, there are physical aspects of aging that affect everybody to...

Re: DW Custom Drum Orders Matched to Existing Kit

I think as long as you send them a drum, they shouldn't have a problem matching a laquer finish.

Here's my DW drum matching expereince:

I had a DW collectors kit in Midnight Blue Glass wrap,...

Re: Hand hitting thigh while playing

This used to happen to me. I would actually get a bruise on my upper thigh.
I think this happens when your snare height and your seat height are too close together.

For me the fix was simply...

Re: Keith Moon

Well you are obviously not a Who fan, so it's clear why you cut down the band members and didn't think much of their performances. Not sure why you needed to see them 2 or 3 times, other than to make...

Re: Wow, Neil Peart kinda sucks...

Why would somebody start a thread with that sentence? Makes you look extremely arrogant.

Re: ***Sign the DW Boycott List***

Man that sucks, sorry for all the problems you've had.
Not what you plan on when getting a new kit.
But If I were you I just wouldn't waste any more time with this.

I can say that I haven't had...

Re: I don't study anyone

Figuring out parts, studying other drummers, or whatever you want to call it, i think is healthy as a drummer. Transcribing parts from others can expose you to styles and skills you may not have come...

Re: Overhead Cam

Re: drum snobbery

Don't let it bother you. If someone is a snob, or doesn't like what you play, nothing you can do will ever change their mind anyway. Who cares what they say.
If you like playing metal then play it! ...

Re: Sound man knows best?

Thanks for the responses guys, I appreciate it.
Yeah, I think I'll stay away from excess dampening, especially O-rings. I really just wanted to see what some of you guys thought.
I know I...

Re: Alex Van Halen Snare Project

I have a Ludwig LM402 and get a sound sort of inbetween VH's sound and Bonham's.
I use an Emperor X coated reverse dot on batter, ambassador snare with 42 strand snares.
No muffling or tape at all....

Hello,

I'm pretty new here, I've only posted a few times.
One of my favorite drummers is Phil Collins...I love his work (drumming) with Genesis, as well as his solo stuff. Even the simple songs...

I've read that by the time the band was recording Synchronicity, Sting would have practically near perfect demos, and the drum parts were so close to...
