Re: Sonor-king of the micro kits?

The Tama Jam kit is a great concept, really cool looking. But the single headed toms is a no go for me.
Treehouse and Whitney have some really nice nested kits, but in the upper price category.

Re: Comparing oneself to others (drummers)

Thats the guy I want to be, I am backing a singer for the type of music I play.
I want to see the audience dancing, singing along, foot tapping, nodding their head and having a good time. Everything...

Re: Behind the scenes at Guru Drums - video.

That was a great insight. I think each drum gets both your heart and your soul!

It adds a new dimension to the ownership of a Guru drum - to see that its actually made by 'the man' himself and the...

I am a Dane that have lived the last almost 20 years in Asia. I dislike haggling, its not in my culture as Larry have also said.

Sounds bad, I hope you will get over it soon!

I got my own chisel story:
25 years ago I complety missed the chisel and hit my thumb with a mallet(not hammer, mallet!). To this day I have no...

Re: Converting programmed drum parts to acoustic kit

I think that groove can be played in the beginning of the song, but it doesnt take it anywhere.

I would explore at some stage going from this halftime grove to full time with a simple 4 on the...

Re: Converting programmed drum parts to acoustic kit

Even with a track with acoustic drums, there is often a shaker, acoustic guitar or 16th note delay or some other sequenced stuff going on.
Playing live, this is missing and it can be hard to make...

Re: Are our ears tuned to tradition?

Bo I agree with you. On the other hand if something better came out, I think the pro's would use it too.

Take a 5 string bass, I dont think Fender have the same market share as the 4 strings.
Is...

Are our ears tuned to tradition?

There has been a couple of interesting threads lately where some boardmembers prefers good old school Ludwigs snares(Supra/BB) to the more modern offerings.

I have also seen some leading session...

Thanks Larry;

It seems like your recording chain provides a fair representation of both drums in your room.

It would be great with some more recordings. You play live a lot, so perhaps we can...

Re: Amazing (old) studio footage - Simon Phillips with The Coors :)

Very nice indeed. Interesting that he sets up the entire kit for this kind of music. I guess he don't want any limitations to what he can come up with in the heat of the moment.

Re: Audio only snare drum comparison between...

I thought the BB sounded exactly like a snare is supposed to sound like.

The Guru not so much. It sounded like its needs a slightly lower tuning to really shine.

Re: Putting together a high mobile kit for an acoustic guitar group

I have been in the same situation and have tried all sorts of 'percussion' snares. This includes LP's 10" and 12" Octa-snare. Sonor Jungle Snare and Toca's Jingle Snare.
The LP product is not meant...
