Re: The whole does not equal the sum of the parts

Focus on transferring the knowledge of flowing on single hand exercises to your alternating hand exercises. Playing 16th notes with alternating sticking or single stroke rolls is essentially the same...

Re: Daily practice routine?

I practice a lot of snare drum exercises either on a pad or on a snare. I'll typically warm up and then play a few select exercises that focus specifically on the aspect of my playing that I am...

Re: What's the right thing to do?

I recently became familiar with Guru drums and I have been blown away! They look phenomenal. I haven't heard any in person yet and have only had exposure to some youtube videos. However, with the...

Re: Loosen your weak hand

First of all, nice job with the english! Knowing two languages is a VERY valuable skill to have!

Re: Pre gig routines?

I usually just get to the gig early enough to unload and set up. Then I warm up a bit and am ready to go.

Re: Improvisation vs composition

I think it really depends on the people you're playing with, the style of music you're playing, as well as the audience you're playing for.

If I'm playing for a cover band, chances are I'm going...

Re: Wood vs other materials

The debate between wood shells and metal shells extends beyond the general material to both the specific type as well as quality.

Every type of material will have its own unique characteristics...

Re: most important

Re: Stiff neck after practicing

In addition to stretching before and after you play, take note of your shoulder position while you're playing. Sounds like you could be hunching or raising your shoulders while you play which can...
