Re: Do you hurt or cramp or something unfortunate when you play? Maybe I can help...

Yeah Magenta! They're good for you, and even if you're not playing drums you can go out and have a good time, and have 2 amazing date activities haha. I am about to start learning tango for fun. Any...

Re: Do you hurt or cramp or something unfortunate when you play? Maybe I can help...

Ok that makes me feel a little better haha...
Well I don't have experience with any students or clients that have had blood clots in their legs, so I'm just going to say that, as you might have seen...

JasperGTR, it sounds like you already know how to fix two problems you mention. Don't do those activities right before drumming. Take a break before sitting on the kit. Why don't you move your pedals...

Re: Do you hurt or cramp or something unfortunate when you play? Maybe I can help...

Hmm...MrPockets I'm not sure how to respond to that. If you think the stiff leg is a blood clot, have you had it checked out? Don't be posting to me on a drumming forum about a blood clot, see a...

Re: Do you hurt or cramp or something unfortunate when you play? Maybe I can help...

Grolubao Yes! AT was one of the best things I ever got into. Had a great teacher in Boston who worked with me while playing, and sometimes when I couldn't get my drums to his studio I just imagined...

Haha I hear you double_G! But doctors aren't always wrong. His advice would have worked and was correct. "Hey, you're doing damage to yourself when you do these things. Stop doing them." That's sound...

Re: Bringing up that cramping issue (again)

Thanks for the kind words. For sure food is the best place to get your necessary atoms, and it's definitely tastier than downing a bunch of pills! But don't write off vitamins/supplements completely....

Hi Drummerworld,

Man I haven't been on this site for a long time. Cool to be back reading some of the posts.

Anyway, back in 2009 I was in music college in Boston and was having a technique...

Re: Bringing up that cramping issue (again)

Hey Bo,

Glad you got the cramping to stop somewhat. Since 2009 I've gotten myself back from a diagnosis of permanent nerve damage from bad drumming habits, and I've learned a lot. Been teaching...

Re: REPOST of issue in SNARE DRUM HELP (difference in drum sounds)

Yeah, you kind of have to deal with that. The only other thing to try is, since there are a lot of ways to make a drum sound good, there ought to be at least one that works for you and the audience.

Re: Going into the unknown

if you're playing with good technique, slowly, it should feel natural to speed up, there will just be a little more fingers and less wrist. One thing you'll probably do naturally is let your arm move...

Re: Speaking of Staves.. (Sound file inside!)

That is one hot sounding kit. Nicely tuned and nicely played, too.
What mics did you use? They pick up real nice tone on the snare and good power on the toms.

Re: Tom help please - Is tuning odd size drums harder???

Odd sizes only harder to tune because most drums are even sizes.

What I mean by that is that if you have a 10 and a 12 and you tune them to where they sound best, they will create a certain...

Re: Cosmic Percussion?

If it's the same Cosmic Percussion that usually has the big CP logo, then it will probably be fairly well made and sturdy. Personally I don't like the sound of most of their products, but you can...

Re: Wood Hoops?

Personally I just like wood hoops better overall on pretty much anything, but I think if you do a lot of rimshots they sound duller and not as cutting as a metal hoop.

I don't really know how wood...

Re: Whats your Favorite fill from a song!?

Probably one I saw James Williams play in a concert with Tiger Okoshi where he just ripped around the kit, but was playing really quiet until he cracked out a rimshot and actually stood up and...

Re: Metal snare and sound!

All three of those guys use pretty deep steel or aluminum snares and a heavy batter head. Tune the top head to a semi-high tension, and the bottom either a 4th above or below. Both above and below...

Re: Exotics Baby!

Yeah earlier this year RMV lost their US distributor. I think the purple heart was a limited run anyway, though. I think Taye might do something in Purpleheart, but not sure.

Re: Best Strainer/Throw-Offs for Snares

I got the Dunnett for a drum I'm about to build myself.

The Trick is nice, but I don't need that, since I'll just move the knob on my throw and have the same versatility as the Trick. I also...

Re: Help fast..need quick response please

not being much of an internet buyer, i don't really want to say whether or not the price is a good deal. I will say that people buy used drums all the time, and quite enjoy them. 1997 really isn't...

Re: Need a small kit which pack a punch

i got to play on a guy's kit which was 6x4 and 10x6 toms, and 14x11 tom used as kick drum. They were yamaha birch absolutes, and in terms of packing a punch, they definitely did that. He played jazz,...

Re: Looking for Advice on New Kit - Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute

I don't know about what that guy said about less volume, but I agree with the 16 in depth on the kick, since you don't lose much punch in the sound and it has a better tone and beater response. As...
