Re: Jason Roeder

Jason.

I've got my tickets for the London show on 6th December. Any chance my Wife and I can come backstage and meet you and the rest of the guys? That'd make my year.

Yours beggingly.

Re: Calling all double bass players!

I tend to play the middle of the footboard too.

I have found that when I play faster, my foot position on the pedal doesn't alter much, but my foot becomes more horizontal. (heel gets lower).

Re: Regrets about your first drumset

Crappy old Hayman 5 piece. Toms had these funny arm attachments which were permanently attached to the toms and had such poor versatility, you couldn't get the rack toms any closer than about 12"...

Re: Stef Broks

Agreed. Great drummer. I saw Textures last Thursday at the Camden Underworld, great band with very technical but still involving songs.

Probably my fave band after Opeth.

The set was too short...

Re: Jason Roeder

Wow! Didn't think I'd actually get a response from the man himself.

When I mentioned 'Sun That Never Sets' as my least fave album, I'm not saying it's bad by any means, but it's not my fave.

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

How's that for a happy coincidence? First day I've been on the boards in months and I'm listening to you playing on the new O.S.I as I type.

Great stuff. A little too much electronica for me to...

Re: Big bass drum issues

Go to http://www.baskey.com

I use the kickstops bolted through a Protection Racket mat. Nothing ever moves any more. All the other drummers I play with want to use my mat too!

Re: Can you get banned due to personal politics?

The lesson to be learnt here is, have a different user name in every forum you're a member of.

Having read the comment above, it comes across more as a vent than anything ban-worthy. But hey, what...

Re: Rock Band Drummers (fake drummers)

I can't play guitar, but enjoy playing GH3. Does that make me a bad person?

Re: Dancers To A Discordant System - Meshuggah

Yes it is broken. Tomas has gone on record stating that he doesn't like the sound of the kick and snare played together (also, you can end up getting a tiny flam between the two), so he'll drop the...

Re: What Band influences you the Most?

It would have to be Opeth. Both as a whole musically and also from a drummer's perspective.

The broad range of styles & speeds, from acoustic to death metal (and no blast beats, which IMO is a...

Re: being pushed to your limits

Remind them that good music is not (just) about speed. You could play some really inventive stop/start kick action at a slower speed and make it sound 1000% more interesting. Tell them if it's not...

Re: Drummerlive in London June 12-15

A Scotsman giving something away for free? I never thought I'd see the day!!

Just kidding. Although I'm English, my lineage is Scots.

Re: Drummerlive in London June 12-15

I doubt it.

I went last year and only managed an hour or so before a monstrous head-ache kicked in. I discovered that day that Hell will be filled with a thousand drummers, of a thousand different...

Re: Dual Drummers

Don't forget Adam & the Ants.

I guess it's just like having a drummer & percussionist in 1 band. Different layers of rythym at different times.

My Mapex Pro-M 8" tom is 4" deep. Didn't stop them putting a fade on it!

Re: Best drumming album of all time?

Today is the Day - In the eyes of God

Brann Dailor's drumming on this album is awesome. IMO he's yet to surpass his work on this album with anything he's done with Mastodon. (Not knocking...

Re: Switching From E-Drums to Acoustic

Glad it all went without issue

Electronic kits are great, but you can never replace a decent acoustic kit for live work.

Jason Roeder

Did a search and no results. Shame on you!

Jason Roeder just happens to drum in one of the finest bands to grace the earth. The mighty Neurosis

I just love his playing style. I know...

Re: Fear Factory's 'Pisschrist'. Need to know....

Yeah. I don't recall hearing anything like it on my TD8, but was hoping to find something fairly similar and tweak it a bit.

Failing that, I'll just buy a sequencer and use my TD8 to trigger it as...

Not taking anything away from Dave McClain. (And I've already posted elesewhere on the futility of comparing one drummer to another)

But Chris Kontos was totally amazing on the first album.

I...

Re: Switching From E-Drums to Acoustic

I concur with others in that you may actually find it easier.

I use a Roland TD8 for sole pratice at home, and if i can play a song on that, i find i can play it easier on my acoustic kit.

Only...
