Re: Who builds steambent snares to order?

Thanks for all the advice guys. I'll look into who can build basically a Radio- King style drum. I like that sound but don't want to deal with any potential hassles that a vintage drum can bring.

Who builds steambent snares to order?

I'm interested in a steambent maple shell with reinforcement rings, a slightly rounded bearing edge and 8 lug 5.5x14.
Any ideas other than the used/vintage market?

Re: This is a great interview with Jeff Pocaro

Nice video showing the insights of a great musician on the drums. I'd trade all the WFD discussions of a lifetime for one hour of Jeff's thoughts.
Thanks for posting it.

Re: Sakae Eco Friendly Snares

I miss the days of drums being sold on their merit as a proven musical instrument in the ears of the player's who used them (i.e. their reputation).
Now we get to learn about a country's housing...

Re: N&C no longer using die-casts?

They are still supplying them. I just had my Classic SS maple refurbished after 28 years of ownership. Nick Jones replaced the original top die cast rim with a new one. They're great instruments no...

Re: "You're a drummer? Oh can you play..."

Got asked to play Ringo's drum solo from Abbey Road once, it wasn't so much an issue on my four pc. kit. Then came the request for "In the air tonight" big fill. Wasn't pretty..

Re: George Way Drum Co. ?

Andy the idea of the thinner shell resonance always intrigues me, all things being equal (construction method, shell thickness, hardware mass etc...) how would you describe the sound characteristics...

George Way Drum Co. ?

Anyone own or play these? The more I learn about these kits and listen to them the more impressed I get. Here's an example of the walnut shells in what appears to be a bedroom with just a few mics....

Re: I accept defeat.

I hate poorly tensioned drums. They're not tuned. I hope this doesn't offend anyone here.
Personally, I'm looking forward to life after the internet.
