Re: Switching grips

Grew up and took lessons w/Traditional, but after a Rip Van Winkle layoff, switched to using Matched 90% of the time (used to be called, "Tympani Style"). My Traditional has atrophied through lack...

Re: club date se

+1 for me.
I also got the snare drum in my purchase, which was used but virtually brand new.

This has got to be the lightest set of drums... The bass drum almost feels like nothing to pick up in...

Re: A new drumming hero emerges!

Very funny and engaging.

I would study with this guy any day.

He makes it all look so fun and probably has some great techniques which it looks like he can very effectively teach step by step. ...

Re: Guitar Center's used inventory

There are great deals and they come with a 30 day return as well, which is worth a few $$ more if needed.

In addition to 2 other Sabian crashes, I bought an HHX Ozone for a steal from GC Used...

Re: BPM recall ability

Jeff:
What a great list of songs for tempo reference.
That web site is also a gold mine of useful material to read/study as well.
Thanks!

Re: BPM recall ability

Bermuda:
Great/practical suggestion! You wouldn't happen to have a list of such songs handy now, would you? :)

Zac:
Please do share your technique(s) if you are so inclined. I'm sure this would be a valuable contribution for many drummers here (especially me!)

Max Roach- Tom angles!!!!

Check Max's kits out on these videos.

From the early 90's- extreme angles on the double mounted toms.

His earlier 4 piece kit in the 60's didn't have such...

Re: Balance point for playing heel up...

VF:
Maybe some drummers are more anatomically inclined towards heel down and others towards heel up.
The challenge in my case is the lower back/upper glute muscles that engage in heel up.
Perhaps...

Re: Balance point for playing heel up...

I'm 100% with you on how I originally learned heel down and used my entire life until a couple years ago when I decided to augment techniques.
Trying to convert to heel up was a real challenge and...

Re: Jeff Porcaro

Being a big JP fan, I found another upload on YouTube I had missed before.
This is the entire Toto/Live in Paris concert from 1990 and the video is pretty clear.
Not enough of Jeff shown (as usual,...

Re: Do Youtube Drum Covers Influence What/How You Play?

In trying to determine what the studio version played, so I can work that into a cover, I've found in some cases a YT Video (slowed down when possible) will shed some light on the groove or beat I...

Buddy Rich Stick action close-up

Here's an excellent YouTube video of an 8 minute BR solo-
focusing entirely on Buddy's hand/stick techniques, close-up with plenty of time to watch the strokes.
Compared to other videos that show a...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Both of those Weckl model sticks are my favorites, and go-to sticks for most everything. Great bounce and focus.
