Tony Williams
Jimi Hendrix
Richie Havens
Levon Helm

Re: playing along with stuff

Reminds me of the days when I first started playing. Practicing with vinyl meant finding a place in the room for the turntable where playing drums wouldn't cause the record to skip. (regardless of...

Re: Drumming Karma

I saw the doors several times while they toured their first few albums. All very good shows. You shouldn't feel bad about coming in 2nd to them in something as silly as a band battle and feeling...

If there's a really...

Re: What's with The Who?

For me, the Who's catalog has stood the test of time. I can still enjoy listening to most of their records. As for Moon, I don't see his work as very complex but it was very dynamic. I see Moon as...

Re: The Drum Solo

Back in my gigging days I can only recall playing a drum solo once. That is the type of solo when the band stops and goes to get a beer or something. I never liked the idea that a drummers solo...

Re: Most egotistical genre ;)

Hands down, polka band drummers. Every polka drummer on the planet just wants to show off their umpah.

Actually it's an individual thing. Some play for the music, some to please the crowd and some...

Re: Happy Birthday Tony Williams ...

Tony Williams has long been my favorite player. Boundless imagination. Had the pleasure of seeing the lifetime band a couple times. It was a sad day when I heard of his passing.

We're so lucky...
