Re: Incredible Vinnie Colaiuta Ghostnote Groove

clyde stubblefield did it in the funky drummer groove. the snare pattern is very similar, just the feel of the hi hats is different.

Re: Drum Tuning Workshop, Tonight, NYC

Re: How to practice rudiments efficiently?

it will help give you a bit more dynamic sound and so its better...

Re: Hip Hop Kit Questions

i wouldnt go with the jungle bass drum. 16 inch bass drums are bit too niche. you get a good sound out of an 18 or a 20 and it will give you more musical options and allow you to also play other...

Re: Lots of things wrong here, but focus on the ride playing with two hands...

i think he did a pretty good job all things considered. playing the ride with two hands was a bit weird but it sounded ok. i've seen MUCH worse to be honest.

i think you should put a video of your...

i've got a couple of beats / grooves that i'm working on at the moment.

i'll play the same beat at the same tempo for half and hour to and hour and then move onto the next one.

might sound...

Re: Attention Tune-Bot Owners!

i'm a bit late to the party but thought i should chip in.

i had very good results with my little gretch catalina bob kit. the tunebot was deadly accurate and very consistent.

Re: The Art of Bop Drumming page 36

i dont bother swinging them.

i like to throw these in all over the place in between triplets and then back again. it will give the time a nice "stretchy" feel as you move between the sub...

Re: i will not play for free - none of us should.

i dont agree with this. if you want to play for free then play for free. theres no need to feel guilty about it.

if people want to make money from music then thats fine. they'd better be good...

Re: So I cut down my Yamaha MCAN 22 x 18...

Re: Does woking out helps drumming?

Re: Is the snare tuned too high?

its all personal. do you like how it sounds? maybe tune it down some more, record that and see which you like best. then repeat the process some more!

Re: Stick control vs samba foot

I used to practise things like that but I don't bother anymore. Its a very clinical approach to playing the drums.

I'd rather spend all my practise time trying to play things that sound good. If...

Re: Stick control vs samba foot

i think you'd be better spending your practise time doing something a bit more musical. maybe show us a video of an actual samba :-)

i guess i'm...

Re: Beater talk...

i use two beaters.

my main beater is a round yamaha, very similar to the first beater the OP uses. its very light but still gives a good amount of volume. feels amazing.

Re: I bent my wooden snare - what the actual hell?!

i'm still a bit confused.

i bought a benny greb signature snare and it has quite a deep snare bed.

so far i'm not happy with it. i tried tuning the bottom head so it was all at the same pitch...
