Re: Any practice pad out there that works worth a darn with a double pedal?

Well you can't include me in that group because I don't want two different sounding bass drums, obviously. I guess one could also use a mallet and a stick to play the snare drum as well, but trying...

Re: Any practice pad out there that works worth a darn with a double pedal?

Do you play your guitar with even one string slightly out of tune? I mean you could just deal with it and ignore any odd sound you heard when you strummed a chord, since it was close enough to...

Re: Any practice pad out there that works worth a darn with a double pedal?

The problem is I cannot get a consistent note for each pedal in succession. One beater sounds slightly different than the other when it strikes the pad so I get the impression that I'm accenting one...

Any practice pad out there that works worth a darn with a double pedal?

I recently bought a remote speedy hat and have to switch my two singles to a double. I have Axis X longboards. Previously I tried the Gibraltar bass drum practice pads but in a two singles...

Re: Justin Bieber's Drumming...

Once hell freezes over and he sprouts facial hair he'll have to find another gig.

Somebody must be passing the kool-aid around with all the Bieber praise, lofl.

Re: Open-Handed Drumming

Yeah I'm thinking of setting the ride up in that same position but having the hi-hat at around the 10-11 o'clock position right next to the snare and as low as possible without it interfering, or...

Re: Open-Handed Drumming

Does having the hi-hat between the toms slow you down when doing rolls at all? I'm curious if there is a way to set it up so you can still have toms lined up but also have the hat in the same...

Agreed. That and he looks like some worn out drag queen with his signature mustache and goofy hair.

Re: Mapex Saturn kit with "free" piccolo snare

Thanks :). Been to enough open mic jam nights to see middle aged white guys trying to live their dreams as some blues musician to know it is the truth.

Re: 100 greatest drummers

Lists like these are pointless. Popularity doesn't mean the drummer is that great. Lars Ulrich is in the highest selling Metal band of all time and he is a total noob on the drums, yet his popularity...

Mapex Saturn kit with "free" piccolo snare

I guess this is the latest sales idea, but funny enough the prices of the kits have gone up, yet you would think with a "free" piccolo snare they would stay the same. On Just Drums the Jazz kit with...

Re: Saturn SE Birch/Walnut

I really like the ocean wave fade but they come in only one configuration, and I don't want a 22x18 bass drum. Oh well.

Re: Gretsch Sea Foam Green Renowns - Check them out at Maxwells...

The color looks good on guitars, not so much on drums.

Re: Lars Ulrich

He's a novice when it comes to technique, and has never really improved. I think his best drumming was probably on Kill Em' All. As far as his popularity goes, I think it would make him one of the...

Standardized Notation

I'm curious if there is an agreed upon notation for drumming that is standard for the drumming education community? I've done some searching on the web and there seem to be a few variations on where...

Re: Who watched the Grammy's? Any thoughts?

The Grammy awards are another reason why I loathe popular culture. Celebrating cookie cutter corporate garbage and people with absolutely no talent. Adele has a great voice but I can't stand the...

1. Playing slow and increasing the speed only when I'm playing the current speed perfectly for a decent duration of time, no matter what I'm doing.

2. Fighting the urge to play fast with less than...

Re: All time favorite albums (CDs)

Way too many to list. My two favorite bands are Faith No More and Death.

Faith No more - tie between The Real thing and Angel Dust
Death - Symbolic.

Re: How to practice drums ?

Play on the actual kit as much as possible (assuming your neighbors don't want to evict you because of it). Even though practice pads give you rebound, they might not mimic the actual drum head on...
