Re: tom angles!!!!

I will go all out tomorrow after band practice and rearrange hardware to get the most extreme angle and space between rack toms possible. There might even be duct tape involved. I'll do a...

Re: tom angles!!!!

Thanks, I was amazed I could even play with the drums set up like that. I like my rack toms flat and low, so it was...ah.....interesting.

The whole time I was thinking "No dents, no dents, no...

Re: tom angles!!!!

My toms can't be angled that far...but I angled them as much as I could and raised my cymbals way up. Here's a little video. It felt awkward and wrong to be playing with the drums set up like this....

Re: Double bass leg pain

Throne height might be the problem, try raising it a little. Sit forward on the seat so your legs aren't on it at all. See if that helps.

Re: Why should I share my drums?

I've played someone's kit at a gig before. He offered to let me play his Pearl masters MCX...which was awesome, because at the time I was borrowing a beat to hell low-end Tama kit from a friend...

Re: tom angles!!!!

I was just about to post that! It's like a science experiment gone horribly wrong, resulting in permanent disfigurement.

Re: bass pedal techniques

Yes, I mean the point where your legs just lock up and you are just convulsing. The point where the ability to do clean, defined strokes start to suffer. Rudiments are a good idea. Just like...

Re: bass pedal techniques

Your speed can only improve through many, many repetitions.....practice. Practice the basic motions slowly for a while every day, giving all your focus to proper execution of the stroke. Use a...

Re: DRUMMERWORLD HELP PLEASE: can you check this video!!!

Firefox 3 on Win XP here. Audio and video work. Loaded faster than quicktime vids usually do, too.

Re: bombing on stage?

One time, I came to the point in our set list where we were supposed to start a slower song.

I played a fill and went to start this nice, leisurely groove. While my mind said slow and easy, my...

Re: Want to Paint my Rack System

The powder cost me $7, and it was enough to do a bunch of engine parts, five 17x10" wheels, and all the hardware for my old 12pc pearl kit.

The powder's cheap, the time shops spend on surface...

Re: Want to Paint my Rack System

There are powders that look close to chrome. I did a few pieces for my old Supra a few years back, here's what it looks like.

Re: Tinnitus, anyone?

I have to sleep with a fan on. My future wife requires lots of blankets thanks to my ears.

Now when I practice alone I wear ear plugs with over-ear protection over them, the same as I'd use on...

Re: No respect, I tell ya.

Well, I had a friendly little chat with the guy, and I now have new batter & snare side heads and new snares on both snare drums, new batter and reso heads and hoops for the bass drum, two bricks of...

Re: Hitting your thumb with a stick...

I'm not a hard hitter, really. You know when you are walking up stairs without looking, and you go up one more step, only to find it isn't there? It's kinda like that. I was expecting to move my...

Re: No respect, I tell ya.

I've come up with a plan. I'm going to get a large box from ACME and set a trap.

Re: Hitting your thumb with a stick...

Not too often. I'm more prone to smacking myself in the face with the tip of a stick. Once in a while I go for a cymbal that isn't there anymore and wind up with a good knuckle buster on the rim of...

No respect, I tell ya.

I've been having a problem with people just hopping behind my kit when I'm not around or without any sort of permission.

A bit of damage was done to my kit last night while I was out. My future...

Re: THIEVES!!! A Tale of Johnny Lightfingers

My Roc-n-Soc motion throne got jacked out of the band van. Amp heads, cabs, basses, guitars, and drums were all left alone. I used to look like I was about to fall asleep while playing on that...

I think the seller of this kit has stage fright...and used this wall of drums to isolate himself from the audience.

The only way...
