Re: "Bum Wrap" Drum wraps

Has anyone tried gluing the wrap down completely? Seems like everyone has just taped it down in case of a future change of heart. I'm wondering how it would hold up in the summer heat, it gets pretty...

Re: Gigs - like buses

I'm proud of myself for knowing what that means. Congrats Madge! Burlesque gigs are fun. My friend is planning an event and has asked me to handle the music for it. We're going old school with the...

Re: how much are used tama brass snares going for?

Really V? You're no gear noob, you can guess the price of used gear. I'd say 2 bills is the highest I'd pay. $150 is where I'd be happy.

Go to Ebay, search "Tama bronze" and search "Sold...

Re: Drummerworld Dictionary

No joke, I thought that was some strange Welsh spelling or something. They put a U in "Color", who knows what else they're capable of.

I tried to get "Donati'd" going but it doesn't seem to have...

Re: playing along with stuff

Better yet, make friends with a musician that is at your skill level and jam together. You'll have a lot more fun than jamming to records by yourself. Plus you might make so great friends along the...

Re: Pearl Free Floater (advice)

Aargh, better luck next time OP. I have been looking to score a FF also although I really don't think it would get much use. From what I have heard and seen they're a great rock snare, really...

Re: WHAT WOULD YOU SAY?

I'm just picturing the drummer getting there early to a gig as we so often do, gear all bagged up on your little cart and the sound guy greets you before you're unpacked.

Am I missing something...

Re: Sorry I ever got rid of those.

I have one, maybe two or three snares that I can't see myself parting with. One because it was a custom job that a friend made for me. It is like my first love. I have accumulated a few snares over...

Re: WHAT WOULD YOU SAY?

For the record, I was joking. I treat the sound guy like I'm trying to get a second date out of them. The more they like me, the more they want to put in the effort to make me sound good.

I really...

Re: Ginger Bakers Latest

His playing is fine. He just looks like he is being operated with strings.

Re: Gretsch Renown Maple 16" Floor

I have a 13" Renown tom that I have been pondering creating a kit out of. Trouble is that the Renown stuff is , as we're all seeing, hard to find and pretty expensive.

The 13" tom is a ruby...

Re: How do you save up for gear purchases?

I have my little slice of my paycheck that I get every pay period. The bill money goes to a joint account that my wife pays bills with and we dip into for joint expenses (not those joints Larry.)

Re: Need Help Identifying Rogers Vintage Set

Can we all just take a minute to just marvel at how awesome JP is?

John, on a personal note, I have some thoughts on a Rogers setup that I'm trying to put together. Would it be ok to PM you with...

Re: Leave Me Alone Please

You're retired right Jim? Go to the Samash on 43rd and Cactus in the middle of the week, mid afternoon. It'll be slow and you'll be able to try out gear in peace. If there is a Mexican guy with long...

Re: Open handed technique

I wish there was a more affordable remote hihat available, something that I could mount above my bass drum. I would love to try open handed playing but I wouldn't want to switch to left hand lead.

Re: bass drum depth

Is that really a thing?

Personally don't care for the extended bass drums. I like the tone of a shallow bass and I much prefer the look. Something just unsettlingly phallic about the Van...

Re: Contrats To Bermuda!

Not trying to be funny but I really didn't know Weird Al was as popular as he is. Since the album came out I have seen his videos posted all over my FB wall.

Re: The matching snare

Don't go to the dark place Matt! It'll all be ok. We're all still friends here.

Look at the Monkey, look at the silly monkey playing the drums.

Re: The matching snare

Or what if you're just a gear fiend with limited space? I have 2 kits, that is all that I need for what I play but I love snares. I love switching them out and trying different sounds with them.

Re: Name that rhythm

I have always called that a Columbia rhythm. The "Broken triplet" as I call it (8th notes with a rest on the 'uh') are very popular in Cumbia, Not sure if it is played quite that way though...
