The REAL side of DW? - Poor customer service!

Some of you may have seen the background to this story on AreFish's post about getting a new DW Performance Series. I posted on there about the wait I was experiencing and updated (with a great deal...

Re: mikeslessons

This may have been true when he started out, but he has far too many students to have thenpersonal touch he used to. I was a subscriber at the start when he first setup the website and was really...

Re: Have you ever cried during a live performance?

Indeed. I was playing a pub gig in a small open garden out the back without mikes. I was having to play fairly aggressively to make the kit heard. At the end of one particular song I went for a...

Re: Okay, so how are the DW Collectors'/Performance series drums?

If you can stand the wait, get a performance series. It's amazing value considering what a new Collectors would set you back - just change the stock heads, as regardless of what DW will try and fob...

Re: Ordered a DW Performance Kit

I got the 10, 12, 14, 14 x 5.5 and 22 in Cherry Red. I am looking at the White coated heads too - anything to get rid of the damn overtones. I've never been a fan of moon gels, tape, cotton wool...

Re: Ordered a DW Performance Kit

So... It's finally arrived. Got the full kit set up and I'm really impressed. The quality is far better than I ever expected and the finish is amazing. The sound 'out of the box' was terrible...

Re: Ordered a DW Performance Kit

What, they're sending you JUST the floor tom? Now they are just teasing ;). I've got five boxes arriving so I'm hoping it's the whole kit plus stands and cymbals. It would be just my luck for the...

Re: Ordered a DW Performance Kit

Yes. They have had some stock in but not in the fusion sizes I wanted. I was told that it probably wouldn't be here till January but they've managed to get in on this shipment. Delivery confirmed for...

Re: Purchasing my first kit, :)!

You will get a lot of different advice on this. So here is my 10p worth. With the budget you have (up to 1500), you have a lot of options. You firstly need to establish what level of kit you are...

Re: New to drumming, help?

The reviews are quite good because the people buying them are not drummers. They are just toys. Although you will pick up the ability to play some beats and some basic techniques, you will not be...

Re: New to drumming, help?

I second the practice pad and lessons advice. I recently bought a used DW go anywhere practice kit (which can take a double pedal) to tide me over until my new acoustic kit arrives. They really are...

Re: help a dad upgrade his son's kit?

Hi,
Just to echo a few points and throw in a few new ones. Firstly the Tama Swingstar is a fantastic kit - if you're not getting the sound your after then changing the heads should definitely be...

Re: help! need to make decision quick

So you are disappointed in your entry level tama because it is not quite as good as your entry level gretsch. You, Sir, are an idiot! If I were you I would sell the tama on eBay and look at the...

Re: Linear grooves/fills in actual music

Mike Johnson's book on linear drumming is excellent for developing linear drumming freedom. His technique reminds me of the way Benny Grebb breaks down music on his DVD except Mike doesn't really...

To the OP:

Scratch my last. I'm now totally convinced you have a mental disability. That or this is all a wind up.

Re: help! need to make decision quick

Also. You've clearly come on here knowing what you want. If you're set on the PDP, despite advice; and set on new rather than second hand, despite advice, then why post the question in the first...

Re: help! need to make decision quick

20 - as in years old??? I was reading through all the replies with amusement and would have guessed at 13/14 prior to you posting this. I almost spat my drink all over the floor!

Another +1 to...

Re: THE DANGERS OF GOING FROM ACOUSTIC TO ELECTRONIC DRUMS

I agree with some of that, but really only if the eKit is fairly bottom line. I owned a Roland TD12 and was very impressed. However I found the opposite - my playing sounded excellent on the eKit but...

Re: Ordered a DW Performance Kit

That is good to get them inside 30 days. I rang the shop today to add a few bits and bobs to the order (no more drums, just a splash cymbal and a few clamps) and they told me the waiting time for new...

Just rang the shop to check potential delivery date - looking like we're still on for mid Jan.

Re: Ordered a DW Performance Kit

I think the comment on 'selling a wait time' is, quite frankly, ridiculous. If DW had known the demand they wouldn't have built in an 18 week lead (in essence they have 18 weeks worth of production...

Re: Ordered a DW Performance Kit

The finishply is now 1569 for the 5 piece too - so I wouldn't have even made any saving.
