Re: Tama Starclassics!

If that kit is indeed from 1999, it is *not* an all-Birch shell. The all-birch shell for Starclassic Performers was rolled out in 2000, however, it is *very* hard to visually tell the difference. The...

Re: For anyone that may have an unfulfilled order with Midwest Percussion.

I never had any problems with Midwest until maybe late 2010 or so.

After that time, they would very often charge my credit card for things that were long-backordered and not give me any updates....

Re: Tama Star = $$$$

I have not seen or heard a Craviotto kit that I didn't think was well worth the price tag. Immaculate drums.

I know Yamaha was attempting to enter that boutique market with the PHX line, but...

Re: A little S-Hoop History

I've no idea why the outward-flanged triple-flanged hoops became more popular, when the Stick Savers really are much better and definitely don't chew up your sticks nearly as much. Maybe it's a cost...

Re: Tama Star = $$$$

Apparently, there's a little kerfuffle going on over at the Tama Forum regarding the Star drums. A prominent Five-Star shop sent back around 5 (or more) kits to Tama for some reason that's been...

Re: My Ludwig Signet105 review!

I'm taking it that the 16" didn't exactly take quite as well to a clear EC2 SST? That's interesting, as I find that drums 13" and larger seem to love EC2s more than anything smaller than that.

Re: Where would you put the Tama G-Bubinga SLP?

The G- prefix refers to a thicker version of the Starclassic shell. As far as I know, the S.L.P. G-Bubinga is the first time they did that shell thickness with Bubinga on any of their drums....

Re: I'd Hit That podcast

I also really enjoyed how candid you were about the biz, Bermuda. Dave's got a great podcast going on, and I can honestly say that yours, James Gadson's and Hal Blaine's episodes definitely rank as...

Re: Toss Panos

Toss Panos kills it. The I'd Hit That podcast is awesome.

Re: eBay Score! Now what do I do?

I would not only change the heads and stash the originals, I'd change the snare wires and batter-side hoop, and stash them along with the heads. That may help retain the value EVEN MORE if you choose...

Re: Tune Bot / Idrum Tech lawsuit?

The lawsuit is pretty lame. The creator of iDrumTech has tried on multiple occasions to work out a deal with Tune Bot, but they've rebuffed him and decided to go this route instead.

It's pretty...

Re: Ludwig 2014

A "Stacking" kit? A "Supraphonic" shell kit? I'd go for either/both!
