Andy, the 80's just called, they want their snare drum sound back.

8" deep...really? What depth in your opinion is most practical for a 15" snare please? Where's the depth line, that depth...

Re: Big maple fun :)

This be why maple is the staple in the shell world.

Re: Been documenting my snare drums more.

The format is excellent, it really highlights the differences in sound, as opposed to not remembering (or caring) what the last snare sounded like when there's no consistency in the execution of the...

Re: Drum suspension systems

Exactly "not 'much' difference", but a difference, and proof here, (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQXNyfAGduI) why would these guys use suspension mounting if it were basically irrelevant to the...

Re: Gear fail - handled beautifully :)

Who uses wing nuts anymore?

Early 20th century drum technology.

Video is a perfect example of why wing nuts are lame, even the EFX crash has lost its wing nut in that vid, or so it would seem.

Re: No more jam sessions for me. I'm done

You may be able to play, but sounds like you need more experience.

If you're experienced you know the variables of an open mic/jam situation. if not, there are many, not least of which is the drum...

Re: Drum suspension systems

No pro level drummer (as in they can have whatever they want) is using iso mounts 'just' bc the drums come with them. If they prefer direct mounting, they'd have them that way.

Drums sound...

Re: Peter Erskine is on the move... again

Flash a fang, try to sell some gear. SOS.

Really, axe yourself what stands out about Erskine's gear pimpability quotient, his (trademark(?)) drum sound, who he's played with, his technique/what...

Re: Drum suspension systems

Yes, you're aren't the only one. The guy who invented the isolation mount was one too.

Somewhat negligible, like calf skin heads. If they (suspension mounts) were available in the day,...

Re: Drum suspension systems

RIMS mounts make it easier get a consistent response from your toms.

Every time you set up there's a new/diff set of variables, the floor, the room dimensions, related materials etc. A major...

Re: Drum suspension systems

Re: Anti-Slip Drumsticks?

I don't care which brand of stick, if I wash my hands bf I play, I'll have no grip, the stick will slide. On a break and use the bathroom, nope, I don't wash my hands.

The oils that come out of...

Re: Other songs that sound like other songs
