Re: Who uses Moongel?

I started using moongel in the studio to dampen the ever ringing floor toms, and snare. I now just use the moongel on the snare for live purposes. It's a great product and can't complain about it.

Re: More Creative on a Smaller Kit

Yes I have seen the same thing happen to me. I get a little more creative on the smaller kit. I haven't yet decided to go full time on it yet though. I'm pretty much known for the big kit. The...

Re: how much are used tama brass snares going for?

Well I've seen them I guess a little cheaper from other standards brass snares. I'd check ebay and see what comes up. Recently I've been on ebay searching for some more snare drums to add to my...

Re: DW Designer Series

I like these Design series drums with the American Maple shells. An 'affordable' DW set, but in reality just a very nice high end PDP set. Nevertheless still awesome drums, and DW's are DW's, like...

Re: Favorite Song to Rock out To?

My song would have to be Free Will by RUSH. I love it because of the middle section where all hell breaks loose. To play that perfectly you need patience and most of the times you just need to GO...

Re: bass drum depth

I would go ahead and say, because us as players are always looking for new sounds and love experimenting with the new stuff. I always used a 16" deep bass drum, until I was introduced to the 18"...

Re: Trusting others with your kit?

I agrees with this. Often times when a kit is left up to be used, some players prefer to use their own cymbals for their sound. You probably can request that the drummers bring their own...

Re: Drum stacking...

I too stack my drums in my drum room. Doesn't seem to affect anything at all. And besides, it looks really cool when I see them stacked in my drum room!!!

Re: Playing sick (the show must go on)

About 10 years ago, while I was playing for a local Chicago Blues Artist, we had to play a show. I played on, with a full blown FLU! It was one hell of a gig! I felt as if I were going to die. ...

Re: What do you say when....

I basically agree with everything that they say, and go and play my set like I normally would. Then they'd come up and say it sounded better the way you did it. And just leave it at that....

Re: Snare help :)

I can't be biased to a certain brand, damn!!! Well then I would buy'em all!!!

Seriously I've read some awesome things about the Dixon Brady snares. They are very well put together, and for the...

Re: Drum Snobs

He was setting up gear, but here's the thing, he didn't even play them drums! But either way who knows. I played one hell of gig that night... That's all that really matters...

Re: The Douchiest Drummers of All Time

Can't believe that Phil is on this list... Maybe the person who made this list up is a douche....

Re: The Douchiest Drummers of All Time

Agree with the number 1 being Lars Ulrich. I never really liked the dude or Metallica for that matter. I prefer Megadeth personally!!!

Re: Drum Snobs

Yeah maybe, but even still I think you'd want to chat with a fellow musician to kinda calm the nerves down. I do that to get me settled in... That's just me though.

Re: Snare is not cutting through!

I recommend cranking that bottom head. I crank my bottom heads and my snares really cut through the music. I play Alternative Hip-Hop so the snare needs to stand out. I also play mainly...

Just recently at a gig, I was trying to strike a conversation with the drummer that was opening up for us. He just seemed to not want to have anything to do with me. We were talking about drums and...

Both are nice kits. Give'em both an offer if they are still available and see what you can get. Thats what I'd do..

Re: Myths of recording studio drums?

Yes. I'm usually first to track and the others use me as the click. They will build their parts around me. I'm usually recording to a "scratch" track, and they build from there.
I've been in the...

Re: Drummers that overplay

Couldn't agree with you more on that one... I had said something like this in the Carter Beauford thread. I love Carter, but sometimes what he is doing, really begins to be to distracting for the...
