Re: Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute Snare

Yes crank that bottom head. I love Remo heads on the toms but for my snares the Evans reverse dot does it for me.

Re: My new Yamaha Hybrid Maple.

Very nice setup indeed. Nice to hear they will get better with age because they sound pretty damn good now.

Re: 10 up, 12, 14 down

I am very comfortable using a 4 piece kit, I will switch out the 10 & 12 sometimes. But like you said, I watch some videos too (Larnell included) and love the options of doing fills with both 10&12....

Re: 10 up, 12, 14 down

Thanks, I tried the off center setup, it just pushed my hihat further to my left and took up more floor space which isn't good for some of the smaller venues.

10 up, 12, 14 down

Anyone here ever try this setup? I was thinking of giving it a shot! I love having my ride where the 12 would normally be setup, not a fan of reaching too high or reaching too far to my right to...

Re: My new Yamaha Hybrid Maple.

Well Fritz I disagree, Tour customs are not 1500, they are 1299 new and I did not pay that for them, there were trades involved, gear I was not using anymore that already earned me well over what I...

Re: My new Yamaha Hybrid Maple.

Most likely will use a 4 piece. As for the price I was had no intention of getting these drums. I was trading in a set of the new Tour Customs, wasn't crazy about them. I also wanted to make some...

Re: My new Yamaha Hybrid Maple.

Too early to tell, They are lighter weight. Used a tune bot on the toms and they sound nice. Oak is the workhorse for most gigs. Only take these out to nice environments. Oaks get the dirty work.

Re: Premier tom mount and post

I did ask, the answer was (I think 1") and no mention of the rod for the tom?

Premier tom mount and post

HI All,

Just wondering if any of you might know the thickness of the post that goes into the bass drum on a Premier kit, also the rod that connects to the drum itself. Thanks as always :-)

Re: Yamaha new Tour Custom or Live Oak

I agree Fitz, Used the Tours for 3 shows, nice sounding kit for the money. Oak much better kit. I actually just traded in the Oaks and Tour for a brand new Maple Hybrid. Can't wait

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Hi Wildbill, I have had my eye on one of these kits for a while, I tried the Tour Customs but having played the Oak drums for about 10 years between the oak custom and live custom, the tour customs...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

So after owning the new Tour Custom kit for less than a month I decided to trade them in along with my Live Oak kit and was able to grab a brand new hybrid maple kit in autumn red finish. My take to...

Re: Yamaha new Tour Custom or Live Oak

So I used my new Tour Customs on a gig last night for the first time. Tuned up pretty easy, using coated ambassadors, clear PS 3 on kick. Nice warm sound that cut through very well. They a lighter...

Re: Please help - is this bearing edge normal? (Picture attached)

I have a new Tour Custom kit, never checked mine but they tuned up easy and sound great? Owned many Yamaha kits over the years and they have always been built great, never a problem.

I hope it...

Re: Tune Bot - Worthwhile or Not?

Picked up the Tune Bot Gig. I can tune pretty well without one but thought I would give it a try. I went by the settings suggested for the size drums I'm using. Got a bit frustrated at first but...

Re: What's the worst drumming advice you've ever received?

Guitarist to my right, speed up

Bass player to my left, slow down
