Up till today, I had never heard of Vernel Fournier. Nice smooth, buttery hands. He makes it look so easy.

There are a surprising amount of things you can do with the brushes, tap sweep, accent on the rim, etc. A plethora of available options.

I would use a snare and brushes, and with the snares off, its pretty quiet.

I had a listen to a double CD of Frampton live, and you strike that off the list in your quest of the desired drum solo.
I found it interesting in the liner notes, where many of the tracks were...

Last year's resolution was to learn to play brushes, which I did. Best drum decision I've ever made, as I find my timing has improved.

Not sure if you have it or not, but Bill's got a book called Stick Technique which is excellent to work with. Lots of good stuff in there.

I listen to the track over and over again, then on the drum kit, i'll got through the song by playing with rods instead of sticks, just to get the physical motions of the drum part, ( I find it...

Try Dave's drum shop in Ottawa. He has a brick and mortar store, but also does online sales. If he doesn't have an item, odds are good he can get it.
It's worthwhile calling, as Dave is very easy...
