Re: Changing gears with my Drum inventory

I've been through the same thing.

Re: Most Random bit of equipment that's failed at a gig

You remember when DW made such a big deal out of that ball bearing hinge on the DW 5000 back in the 1990s? Mine broke during the middle of a show. As in, broke really bad. Luckily there was...

Re: Gear you could afford but never owned

I think Larry meant what are things that are pretty common and fairly inexpensive but you've never owned for whatever reason.

I have a couple to add to my list:

Although I've played a bunch of...

Insuring cymbals (no serial numbers?)

How can you insure cymbals if there are no serial numbers? Do you need them?

Thanks.

Re: Mapex Armory

Yup, I agree. One of the best bang-for-the-buck sets on the market today. If you buy used, you can save a bundle.

Re: Gear you could afford but never owned

I tried to think of things that are common and not too expensive

A cowbell
A drumset-mounted tambourine.
Any sort of drum riser
Any sort of drum rack
Drum gloves
Any Paiste cymbal
Matching...

Do you have a piece of equipment that you've used since day 1 and still use it regularly?

Some people tend to stick with what they know in terms of equipment while others seem to trade stuff off rather quickly. Does anyone use a piece of equipment that you've used since day one (or...

Re: Your weirdist gig?

I did one of these. Turned out to be a weird, weird night.

Got booked to headline at a college auditorium (1600+ seats).
Got there early to set up and sound check.
Lead singer never shows....

Re: After 8 years, they are finally home!

Unfortunately not. ;)

Our church dropped some money on a Reverie kit and Heartbeat cymbals; therefore, I have these at home. I'm still on the fence as to whether or not to sell my brown set. ...

After 8 years, they are finally home!

I know I've posted pics of these throughout my time here, but after 8 years of having these at church, I FINALLY got to bring them home.

I can't wait to gig with these again. It's been too long....

Re: Used snares

I've played a lot of snares, and one of my absolute favorites is the Pearl Masters. I love this drum.

Re: Your weirdist gig?

1. Someone's driveway
2. Another house's garage
3. I once played in an auditorium, but the inside was made of brick with no sound-aborbing panels. It was like playing in a raquet-ball court....

Re: Need help with memorizing songs and cymbal crashes

You can always make notes if needs be.

I know I always remember kick drum patterns by vocal patterns. I try to support what's happening vocally.

Some songs require crashing at the end of every...

Re: Gigging with a Ludwig Accent?

As long as it's in good working order, I say go for it.

I made quite a bit of money with my Basix Birch kit when I had it.

Re: Natal drums

A 5-second google search:

The kit features 6-ply poplar shells with a great-looking gray strata wrap.

Re: Stolen Gear

Yes, back in the 1990s, I was 6 hours from home in Chattanooga, TN. I was staying with a friend of mine, and we rehearsed that night, so I took in my kick, snare, hardware, and cymbals. I was...

I own a 16 x 16 and a 16 x 14 USA Pork Pie Custom maple floor tom. Both sound great and are easy to tune in my book.

Re: Ever bought a recording just because it featured the kind of drums you have?
