Re: Do you have a piece of equipment that you've used since day 1 and still use it regularly?

Only this piece remains: original first generation Ching Ring. Bonham approved.

Hi-hat clutch is a mid 90's addition/adaptation.

Re: Yolanda Charles - new project.

Finally a video where the drummer is in clear sight and not blocked by his bandmates!

Seriously, that was excellent. Love Yolanda's bass playing!

Re: Drumsticks and carry on luggage

When I fly out for film shoots I pack an 8-channel mixer/recorder, wireless microphones, lavaliere microphones, a boom mic, portable 50-foot sub snake, 12 XLR cables and a change of clothes split...

Re: Boutique snare drums-roadworthy?

My take is play what you got! Just protect them the best you can.

Reach out to Curt at Joyful Noise and Ron Dunnett to see if you could score a few parts to have on hand in your parts kit.
Or...

Re: Boutique snare drums-roadworthy?

As with most drums it depends on if you handle your drums exclusively or someone else handles them. Outside of that will the snare live in a soft case or hard case? And how are they...

Re: Snare wires for my Tama SLP Fat Spruce?

I've had really good results with Puresound Equalizer 16-stand snares.

Re: Does anyone transport just the drums in a trailer?

Couldn't agree with you more. If a thief wants your gear he'll find a way to steal it whether it's in a trailer or a locked vehicle.

But in my region I'm only aware of one musician's vehicle...

Re: Important announcement - Guru Drums

+1 I'm absolutely, utterly humbled to play something of this quality.

I've wondered if you ever felt like Stradivarius handing one of his violins to a gorilla when you shipped me my snares.

Re: Does anyone transport just the drums in a trailer?

The primary thing I don't like trailers--besides the parking issue--is they are so easy to be jacked.

I have several friends in the last few years who have had their trailers full of gear...

Re: Advice on building a drum riser

Agreed. No nails. Screw it together. Only thing I would add is two layers of 3/4" birch plywood to keep things from warping. Run the first layer one direction. Run the second layer an opposing...

Re: Important announcement - Guru Drums

Not the news I was exactly expecting to hear today.

Totally behind your decision. Family and health first. You've made the wise choice here, no matter how difficult it was to make.

Andy,...

Re: When's the best time to buy a used shell pack?

In the States the month of April when income tax is due can yield some good purchases with private parties selling gear in need of some quick cash.

Re: Anyone ever switch your "brand loyalty?" (Mid-life crisis for me?)

I've stuck with Yamaha drum kits since the 70's because of their build quality and sound and purchased what is now my current Recording Custom kit
the month before Yamaha pulled the proverbial plug...
