Re: Plastic Snare Drum

Well it's been at a little bit of a standstill for the past little while, but I'm picking it up again this weekend. I'll post some pictures on monday. By then, the shell itself should be completely...

Re: Bass drum muffling

The first thing I do when I get a kit is change out the stock head's for evans heads. They will last longer, sound better and have a much better feel in my experience.

I have a new cat jazz kit in copper sparkle, when i brought them home I wanted to change the head's anyway, so I did an inspection. The bearing edges were cut perfectly, the inside of the shell's...

Re: Plastic Snare Drum

Wow lot's of debate here on shell resonance. Personally, I really don't know the true dynamic's of it, I won't pretend to know. This is purely an experiment, and I have absolutely no idea whether...

Re: Plastic Snare Drum

Ah no problem, it's a common mistake I even make sometimes... and I do it everyday! It's extremely easy to miss or mess up a number when your dealing with them regularly.

So stave shell...

Re: Plastic Snare Drum

Re: Plastic Snare Drum

Les, that would be a cool idea for another one in the future, It would be interesting to see the effect it would have on the drum.

jodgey4, with a 13" OD, and 12.5 ID, that would produce a 1/4"...

Re: Plastic Snare Drum

Hmm, I don't quite get what your saying Les. In that picture, the angle on the inside is not finished, it's now just about out to the edge of the shell as a bearing edge would be. So why drill...

Re: Dw Drums?

That sounds about right. The snare drum read's dixon, but the rest of the kit isn't, I know dixon floor toms were 5 lug, that one appears to be 8 lug. I was thinking pearl as well, if you look...
