Re: What's your latest purchase?

I'm thinking Motowny. Latin doesn't like me much. Turns out I'm not that fussed on the cowbell, but the wood block sounds lovely to me.

Re: Good quality mid-range snares?

No, it was her very first post ever that gave it away. Nothing in the French that should imply gender :) And you can't help being English.

Re: Too Old To Seriously Take Up Drumming?

Yes, but it's almost worth making it a sticky because people ask this all the time. It's nice to be reassured that we're not worthless just because we are old farts.

Re: Double pedal - on it's way out.

I'm very glad to hear that your right leg is improving. Nothing wrong with giving anything up for the right reasons!

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Ahh, I take it you enjoyed it? Is the 14" looking for a new home now?

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Are eggs roughage? I forgot I'd bought them at the same time as the cowbell.

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Last week, a cowbell because I didn't have one (I know, I know).

Sunday, a wood block.

Last night, a UFiP 20" Class ride. So, so SO excited!

Re: Practice advice for professional musician switching to drums

You aren't coming late to the party at all so don't worry about that.

Stick Control is a really good place to start. You need to develop control and muscle memory, and both these things take time...

Re: New - official Guru In-Tense video starring David Floegel!

FROCK!! I'll lend you one. You'll carry it off a whole lot better than me. You won't trip over it, for a start. No pressure, but I'm relying on you.

Re: New - official Guru In-Tense video starring David Floegel!

Oh me too.

You know what, chicken - I think Mr Madge is going to be a pushover compared to that Andy. He's very 'arsh.

Re: New - official Guru In-Tense video starring David Floegel!

I think he finished his tour last night so that means he should be home this weekend. I'll let him get some sleep, then see how he's fixed and let you know. As for only having snares to play,...

Re: New - official Guru In-Tense video starring David Floegel!

He does, to tell the truth.

I know a Guru kit would be like putting lipstick on a pig. It doesn't stop me wanting one, not least because they are things of such beauty as to be works of art. ...

Re: New - official Guru In-Tense video starring David Floegel!

Swoon!

(I was tempted to say "What drums?")

I like the middle tom best, too, but I also enjoyed the cheeky "piping" sound from the little one. And I love that pale, palomino colour.

Looking...

Re: Could have been awkward ...

Believe me, it isn't worth it. They can turn a person to stone with a single Look (I like to think they've been well taught), and besides, I've listened to some of his original songs.

My new...

Re: Could have been awkward ...

Well, apparently he is a nice lad, but the consensus is Please Don't Do It, Mum, so that's that.

Ok. Some of them are fake, some are purloined!

Re: What are your stories of when people found out you are drummer?

I honestly have no idea. What on earth did she expect me to say, "Yes I do, I'm a wreck"?

Clearly, I don't look like a "proper" drummer, whatever they look like.

Re: Could have been awkward ...

I am thinking about it, mainly because they ARE adults, they're all around 20. It's not as if they're 15 when I'm 50. That would be icky.

All my names are fake.

Maybe I'll ask my...

Re: Could have been awkward ...

Thanks for the vote of confidence in my drumming skillz, Larry!

Now THAT idea has merit.
