Re: Ludwig's new Signet 105 drum line!

Thanks man, that's what I thought, and I did play the 4pc signet at a local GC and I was floored - the attack of birch and the body of maple. I have a maple gretsch renown which is a reference point...

Re: Ludwig's new Signet 105 drum line!

Bermuda and others with experience on this kit:

Would you consider this an upgrade from Yamaha Stage Custom Birch (circa 2011)? All opinions are welcomed. I'm really thinking of pulling the...

Re: Hybrid drummers can I have your attention please?

I'll answer it, but I'll also state that I'm no longer going that route because there's just too much that can go wrong when you are not in a super-pro-touring-fat-wallet band. I just got tired of it...

Re: Will Calhoun

I remember when I first heard LC Vivid for the first time - it was the final "sign" that made me ditch the all the prog stuff, and sell 3/4 of my monster Peart inspired kit. Th first and second signs...

Re: What's with the Stage Custom snare?

I traded mine in at GC and did not get much for it, maybe 55 bucks. I wasn't a fan of the snare, still love the kit though, especially with 2.3MM hoops on it.

Re: Are 13" toms obsolete?

That's also what David Garibaldi uses. If I could redo one of my kits, I'd go that route as well. His newer PHX in this config sounds amazing live.

Re: 6 Pc. kit and 9 cymbals on 2 tripods!

That was my biggest concern as well, but they aren't that heavy and I balanced them (shifting which side holds each component) so the weight is fairly equal front to back and side to side - I...

Re: 6 Pc. kit and 9 cymbals on 2 tripods!

Yes, I did and it worked out great. The RIMS mounts were too destroyed to use (this came from a used kit I rescued), plus I have a Yamaha kit that I share the same hardware with - 2 different kits...

6 Pc. kit and 9 cymbals on 2 tripods!

In an effort to make getting on/off stage quicker (for drum bros going on after me) and to lighten my hardware bag, I was able to get everything on 2 tripods! It looks scary but it works (I'm a heavy...

Re: I'm getting into this now

Bo,

I think what you're doing is cool. And like anything else, you'll be able to find a happy medium or 'hybrid style' of playing from understanding many genres, and I think you will be...

Re: What's the worst kit you've had to play on?

I was in a rehearsal studio in North Jersey, way North... It was a Yamaha Tour Custom - I couldn't believe how bad it was especially since I'm a huge fan of Yamaha drums. It was really beaten up, the...

Modern Drummer March 2014 issue - why do they do this?

As stated in other posts I may have replied to, I'm not into the competitive thing, I see us all as brotherly artists. However, if you look into the March 2014 issue of MD, they have Lars and above...

Re: Who won the Weckl/Colaiuta/Gadd drum-off?

Exactly - I couldn't have written it better. Actually, I quote Weckl in saying: 'Playing the drums is not a sport, it's an art-form"

Re: Do drummers lose points for disassembling the moment the show is done?

Like others have expressed, when we are playing between bands I move everything off the stage in minutes as to help out the next drummer, and what saves me time is having strong stands that hold...

Re: How to beat superior drummer

100% correct. Another example - symphonic metal bands here and in Europe will not be hiring orchestras or string sections to go on the road - just one keyboard player (I have experience with this)...

Re: How to beat superior drummer

That's a tough one, and the libraries are pretty impressive for some SD kits.

However, have you tried submitting your own MIDI files for your band? At least, they can send you a set of completed...
