Re: What's your latest purchase?

I just got the Gibraltar Ultra Adjust flat base stand for my tom.

This one has the plastic-y type grips, but they have a raised piece in the center, and it doesn't choke the tone. I'd...

Re: Goodbye Saturns, hello Performance!

I like the Performance shells also, but not a fan of the Collectors line.
The original Keller 6x6 shells I liked, but when they experimented with several different shell/ring types, the sound didn't...

Re: How do you not hear your bass drum?

While I DO play a 26, and I DO tension in the Bonham/Buddy/Louie fashion, when I've played lots of other bass drums (with all manner of heads), & I've always been able to hear them fine.

Back in...

Re: Creatures Of The Night (Kiss) intro

Two hands with slight flam on the toms (smaller to larger), doubles on the bass drum between each hit of the toms. 1-2-3-4,1-2-3 snare (flam).

It's similar to We're an American Band also.

Re: Are 13" toms obsolete?

I have a 13 (x9) on all my kits. I sometimes use a 12(x8) instead, but always go back to that 13.
I haven't had any issues with a 13-16-18, OR, a 12-16-18. They both sound great.
I'd like to see...

Re: Radio...

I remember the first time I heard my band on the radio, it was very cool. It's cool every time :-)
I've been lucky quite a few times to get air play, being as the bands I've been in...

Re: Ian Paice

Ran across this on Facebook last week.
Drums only Highway Star.

Great stuff, and I like how it speeds up a touch, or lays back in spots. The snare...

Re: Pearl sensitone elite review

Just bumping this to see if anyone can answer the question about the quality of the 8 lug version of this snare I had. I guess it's the Vision Sensitone?
If that is the case I can check one out,...

Re: Pearl sensitone elite review

One thing that is going to affect the sound between a BB and a PSE is the 1.5 thick shell.
The thicker shell makes a BIG difference in tone and "openness" of the ring.
There's "ring" in both...

Re: Going minimalist

I still use my "full kit", but these days, I do have a lot of fun on a 4 piece, and don't miss the extra couple floor toms on a backline gig.
The left side ft is there mainly for the times it just...

Re: Snares vs cymbals

I've had a ton of cymbals over the years, sold several, and only regretted one sale, so I guess that's not too bad.

I purchased several Paiste 2002, GB, and a couple Prototypes in the last couple...

Re: DW Customer Service

So what doesn't match is that there are PDP Wing Bolts for tightening on two arms, and two that have the black Quick Turn Handles?

You'd need 2 DWSMQTH to match the "old style". They are like 7...

Re: What are your favourite recorded drumsounds?

I have a few, mostly snare drum sounds though.

Bonham's snare on Dancing Days & Misty Mountain Hop. Take the pattern on Fool in the Rain as "one sound". That drums only track can just go on repeat...

Re: What's the worst kit you've had to play on?

A back line kit for a corp event, with multiple bands. it was like a showcase...kind of. I'm not sure WHAT the event was TBH... Some music company... seemed like a pyramid scheme so I didn't pay...

Re: Modding a Ludwig Supraphonic 400

A couple things to try.
A Ludwig, or Remo No Collar snare side head.
The no collar head with the clear film is more responsive and crisp sounding than a regular Hazy SS. Ludwig's SS is a little...
