Its a drum kit, you hit the drums and you press the pedals. If the way you do it works for you, you stick with it, If not you find a way that works better....

This is obviously a very personal subject. "Technique" is an emotive word, I have been to lots of great gigs over the decades and listened to hundreds of drummers but I dont recall ever leaving a gig...
